Quality Assurance Unit

Functions

The Quality Assurance Unit is an internal structure that oversees the implementation of Quality Assurance (QA) procedures at University level, for Degree Programmes and Departments, in line with the guidelines established by the Governing Bodies in the University's Quality Policy for teaching, research and public engagement, as well as in the University Strategic Plan. The Quality Assurance Unit:

  • promotes a culture of quality within the University
  • organises and coordinates the execution of QA processes across the University, providing the necessary operational guidance and, where required, relevant data and information
  • verifies the implementation of structured QA processes by all stakeholders and evaluates their effectiveness
  • plans and organises training activities related to QA aimed both at disseminating a quality culture and encouraging the responsible engagement of all stakeholders, as well as supporting the correct and consistent implementation of QA processes
  • ensures effective information flow among all participants in the University’s QA system
  • reports regularly to the Governing Bodies on the status of QA actions, highlighting achieved improvements, ongoing challenges, and planned actions

The Quality Assurance Unit prepares an annual report outlining its activities, results achieved, ongoing challenges, and planned actions for the following year. The report is approved by 31 March each year and is submitted to the Governing Bodies and to the Evaluation Board.

Composition

The University Quality Assurance Unit, established by resolutions of the Academic Council and the Board of Governors on 4 March 2013, is composed of 5 to 7 members drawn from university staff who possess specific expertise related to Quality Assurance. The Head and members are appointed by Rectoral Decree, serve a three-year term, and may be consecutively reappointed only once.
