What steps are required to initiate a mobility period?
Erasmus students must be nominated by their home university via email to erasmus@unistrapg.it (so-called "nomination").
The nomination must:
- be sent by the designated office of the home university;
- include the following information:
- student's full name
- student's date and place of birth
- student's institutional email address
- intended mobility period
- ISCED code
- indication of the relevant Erasmus action (KA131 or KA171)
After receiving this nomination, the Erasmus and International Mobility Office will:
- verify the eligibility of the mobility activity;
- send the nominated student an email confirmation with all the necessary information for the subsequent application procedure (so-called "application")
To submit your application, you must send the following documents by e-mail, in .pdf format, to erasmus@unistrapg.it:
- The Erasmus Application Form, which you must complete, print, sign personally, and have signed and stamped by your home university;
- A copy of your identity document;
- A copy of your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for healthcare coverage. If you do not have an EHIC, you must take out a health insurance policy with appropriate coverage valid for the entire mobility period, and attach a copy of it.
In addition to the above documents, you must also:
- Complete the online applicationfor the regular Italian language and culture courses, which you may attend free of charge as an Erasmus student;
- Additionally, you must complete one of the following:

Once the above documentation has been received, the staff of the Erasmus and International Mobility Office at the University for Foreigners of Perugia will carry out the necessary verifications and, if successful, will issue the acceptance letter for your mobility period.
Students who have successfully completed the application procedure will receive the following documents separately at the email address they provided:
Depending on the case:
- a notification of OLA approval directly from the Erasmus Dashboard platform
- in the case of using the KA131 or KA171 Learning Agreement, a countersigned copy of the document
- the certificate of enrolment in standard Italian language and culture courses
- their institutional credentials to be used during the mobility period (student ID number, institutional email address, username, and password)
- an invitation to participate in a welcome and registration event (the so-called "welcome meeting")
In the case of mobility from non-EU countries, it may be necessary to complete certain procedures to obtain a residence permit for Italy, which you will need to check and fulfill if applicable. For information regarding a Visa for studying in Italy, it is recommended that you carefully consult the guidelines provided on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Particular attention should be paid, for mobility from non-EU countries, to healthcare coverage; you are advised to gather comprehensive information on the regulations that apply between Italy and your country of origin.

Educational Offer and Tutoring
Incoming Erasmus students are free to choose from all the courses offered within the first- and second-cycle degree programmes. The list of available courses is published by the Departments approximately one month before the start of each semester.
The Erasmus staff sends an email notification to all students when the list is published.
Below is the list of learning modules offered in English.
Incoming Erasmus students are offered the opportunity to attend regular Italian language and culture courses free of charge for the entire mobility period. Interested students must include the language courses in their Learning Agreement.
The class schedules are officially published by the Departments in September (for courses in the autumn semester) and in February (for courses in the spring semester).
Once the schedules are published, which will be promptly communicated to you by the Erasmus and Mobility Office staff, we strongly recommend that you check the availability of the courses listed in your OLA to organise your weekly timetable accordingly.
Each Erasmus student is assigned a mobility tutor, who will support you in selecting and managing your academic pathway both before and during your mobility period.
Each Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral programme has a specific tutor, who can be identified in the list below.
Managing the Mobility Period
Before the start of each university semester, the University's Erasmus staff organizes an online welcome event ("welcome meeting"), to which you will be invited by email.
Upon your arrival in Perugia:
- you must first visit the Erasmus and International Mobility Office (main headquarters at Palazzo Gallenga, first floor) to sign the arrival register. The date you sign the register will be recorded as the official start of your mobility period;
- should you require it, the Erasmus and International Mobility Office will issue a certificate confirming the start of your mobility for your home university, if needed, also on a form provided by your university;
- you will then be required to take the Italian language placement test on the date and time previously communicated to you by the Language Courses Office via email. The result will be sent to you immediately by email, along with the schedule for the assigned Italian language and culture course. If these courses are not included in your Learning Agreement, you may freely choose whether to take the test and attend the courses;
- you may then begin attending the courses listed in your Learning Agreement.
During your mobility period, you may, for various reasons, find it necessary to make changes to your Learning Agreement.
To do this, within and no later than 30 days from the start date of your mobility, you must:
- immediately contact your mobility tutor regarding this matter;
- then get in touch with the Erasmus coordinator of your home university, obtaining their approval, which may be expressed as follows:
- directly on the dedicated platform, in the case that your mobility is managed through OLA;
- otherwise, by sending the "Learning Agreement During the Mobility", duly signed by both you and the coordinator, via email;
- your proposal will then be reviewed by the Erasmus coordinator of the University for Foreigners of Perugia, who may:
- reject your proposal with justification, in which case you may modify and resubmit it;
approve your proposal.
In either case, you will be notified directly by OLA via email, or, if your mobility is not managed through OLA, through an email from the Erasmus and International Mobility Service.
The end date of your mobility period must be communicated to the staff of the Erasmus and International Mobility Service (erasmus@unistrapg.it) at least one week prior to your departure to allow, where possible, the preparation of your final documentation, which will include:
- certificate of mobility;
- Transcript of Records.
PLEASE NOTE: The end date of your mobility period must coincide with one of the following:
- the date of your last recorded exam;
- the date of your last attended lesson;
- the date of your last visit to the Erasmus and International Mobility Service.
