Who is the peer tutor?
A peer tutor is a fellow student, but more experienced, enrolled in a Master's degree or PhD program, who has been specifically trained to support student well-being, prevent crisis situations, and foster an inclusive and safe academic environment.
What does a peer tutor do?
- Supports students in understanding the academic system (structure of the academic year, classes, exams) and in learning about University services
- Creates opportunities for students to meet, exchange ideas, and solve problems together
- Encourages student participation in recreational and cultural activities organized by the University, student community, or student representatives
Additionally, based on their specific training, the peer tutor can:
- Provide academic support to promote academic success

How to request a peer tutor?
Email the coordinator, Dr. Sara Tagliamonte, using only your University email address, at sara.tagliamonte@unistrapg.it specifying your degree program and describing your needs.
The peer academic tutor is specifically trained to:
support effective communication with lecturers and the course council
assist with drafting the study plan and organizing exams
find information and materials related to course syllabi
develop effective study strategies and organize study groups
analyze any learning or motivation difficulties, identifying relevant institutional contacts

The peer tutor/facilitator for linguistic and cultural mediation and inclusion receives specific training to:
support the integration of international students and organize welcoming events
provide language assistance to improve and reinforce Italian language skills
guide and support international students in accessing online Italian language courses
promote the inclusion of students with particular vulnerabilities, aiming to reduce their sense of isolation
The activities of peer facilitators take place within the framework of the MoEBIUS project, which aims to support the physical and psychological well-being of the academic community through psychological support, arts and cultural activities, and the promotion of healthy eating and sports activities.

Intended for: all students enrolled in degree programs at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia who have submitted DSA certification (L.170) and/or disability documentation (L.104 or disability certificate >66%) to the Student Registry Office.
The purpose of this service is to reduce or remove potential barriers to ensure that students with disabilities and DSA can actively and confidently participate in university life, becoming directly involved in their educational journey.
The peer disability/DSA tutor receives specific training to:
- facilitate access to university services
- support the completion of administrative procedures
- attend lectures
- provide study support for exam preparation
- foster the development of autonomy
PLEASE NOTE:
Assignment will be finalized following an interview with Prof.ssa Cristina Gaggioli, Rector's Delegate for DSA and Disability Policy, or Dr. Sara Tagliamonte, Academic and Pedagogical Counseling Officer.
Thanks to an agreement with the AIFA Aps association, some measures may also be extended to students with ADHD certification.

Until November 2026, tutors are available at the Student Office with a Welcome Desk for first-year students, to support new students in:
- getting to know the campus and the University’s main services
- activating their institutional account and accessing online platforms
- completing pre-enrolment procedures
- requesting the Salgo local public transport subscription
- learning how courses are organized
The service is available, both in person and online*, from Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and on Mondays from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM for in-person assistance only.
*Instructions for online access: join the link (Welcome DeskFreshers | Join the meeting | Microsoft Teams), and you will be directed to a virtual waiting room, where a tutor will assist you as soon as they are available.
