The Master’s Degree Programme in Advertising Communication, Storytelling, and Image Culture, under the Department of International Human and Social Sciences, trains specialists in strategic communication management, equipping them to enhance both the internal and external image of institutions and businesses. Alongside a solid theoretical foundation in strategic communication, graduates gain advanced skills in designing and developing communication plans, including at the international level, thanks to their fluent knowledge of multiple foreign languages.

Course Information

  • develop in-depth knowledge in the fields of linguistics, semiotics, and sociology, essential for managing communication techniques, with particular focus on the drafting of advertising texts
  • acquire skills in the creation and production of audiovisual and digital content for advertising and corporate communication
  • gain specific expertise in designing and developing communication plans
  • develop theoretical and technical understanding of the different channels of communication
  • acquire psychosocial, qualitative, and quantitative analysis tools for monitoring and evaluating communication outputs
  • achieve proficiency in two European Union languages and their respective sector-specific communication languages
  • develop skills in the promotion, management, and utilization of information and communication technologies

Graduates will be able to hold positions of responsibility in the field of communication within public, private, and non-profit organizations, both in Italy and internationally; in communication and advertising agencies, press offices and public relations, publishing and multimedia companies, media centers, as well as television and film production companies. Additional professional fields include journalistic editorial teams for radio, television, and online outlets, newspapers and magazines, and press agencies.

The programme defines specific professional profiles:

  • art director, copywriter, account executive, media planner
  • head of communication and marketing
  • designer of audiovisual and multimedia products
  • press officer
  • web master, web designer, web content manager
  • news management operator and executive, and specialist in media relations strategies

The Master’s Degree in Advertising Communication, Storytelling and Corporate Culture, class LM92 (Theory of Communication), qualifies graduates for admission to the new teaching competition class: A-65 Theory and Technique of Communication. This subject may be taught in the second biennium of Technical Institutes, Technological sector, Graphics and Communication track.

In order to qualify for access to this teaching competition class, second-year students must include the exam in International Journalism Sociology, held by Prof. Rolando Marini (SPS/08), from the RICS Master’s Degree Programme, in their study plan.

Students enrolled in the ComPSI degree program may choose to undertake a double degree track with the University of Nantes: the Italian-French joint master's degree CIMEPIC and the French Master 1 MCCI qualification.

*The 9 ECTS for foreign language courses include 3 ECTS provided by a native language assistant lecturer.

Additionally, the degree course recommends the electives listed above, as they are deemed consistent with the course’s contents and educational objectives.

To enroll in the Master's Degree Programme in Advertising, Storytelling, and Visual Culture, students must hold a Bachelor’s degree, a three-year university diploma, or another foreign qualification deemed equivalent. In addition, to apply for this programme, students must:

  • meet the required curricular prerequisites;
  • pass an entrance interview. Candidates may participate in the interview only if they possess the specified curricular requirements.

Curricular Requirements

Admission to the Master's Degree Programme in Advertising, Storytelling, and Visual Culture requires a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in one of the following classes: L5, L-10, L-11, L-12, L-15, L-18, L-24, L-33, L-36, L-37, L-39, L-40, L-20, L-GASTR, or, alternatively, possession of curricular requirements amounting to a total of 60 ECTS credits in the following Academic Subject Areas (SSD):

Any extra credits earned beyond the 180 required for the Bachelor’s degree that relate to the areas and subject codes listed above may also be counted. Similarly, relevant language and/or IT certifications and/or internship experiences not included in the calculation for the Bachelor’s degree may be considered, provided they pertain to the indicated areas and subject codes.

Any additional ECTS credits required to meet the curricular prerequisites must be obtained prior to enrollment in the Master’s degree programme and before the assessment of individual academic preparation. These credits may be acquired at any university as single course units within first-level degree programs.

The possession of curricular prerequisites will be verified by the Degree and Didactics Secretariat, to whom students may submit their documentation via email at segreteria.laurea@unistrapg.it or deliver it in person at the Secretariat (Palazzina Orvieto, Viale C. Manuali, 9 - 06123 Perugia).

For the verification of curricular prerequisites, students must present the following documents:

  • a copy of the degree certificate (for graduates) including a complete transcript of exams taken with corresponding credits and academic subject areas;
  • a copy of the transcript of exams taken and to be taken (for graduating students), indicating credits acquired and still to be acquired, along with the relevant academic subject areas.
