The courses have a minimum duration of four weeks and end with a final assessment.
To complete level A1 you need to attend a two-month course, while completing levels A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 requires attending a three-month course.
The three-month courses start in January, April, July, and October. However, students can enroll for one or more months at any time of the year.
Institutions, associations, organizations, and companies can request customized courses, with duration and content tailored to their needs.
The courses are characterized by an approach that emphasizes communication and interaction among participants, ensuring exposure to the living language and Italian culture.
The lessons, lasting 50 minutes, take place every day from Monday to Friday (2 to 4 hours per day).
Placement test
To access the course, the student must pay the registration fee and take a placement test. The placement test, which is mandatory for everyone, consists of two parts:
- an online (written) test to be taken on the LOL platform by the 20th day of the month preceding the start of the course. It is recommended to access the Moodle platform in advance using the credentials received during registration for the language courses. If this is not possible, the written test can also be completed on the first day of the course, from 09:00, at Palazzo Gallenga (Room XI).
- an oral test, which takes place on the first day of the course, from 9 am, at Palazzo Gallenga (Room XII). Lessons begin the following day.
After completing the test, the student is placed in the appropriate level class.
Admission to assessments and final exams
At the end of a course, after passing a final exam, the student may enroll in the next course.
To be admitted to the monthly assessments or final exams of each level, a minimum attendance of 70% of the course is required.
Certificates and diplomas
Certificates are issued, upon request of the student, after the office has verified regular attendance of the course (at least 70% of the lessons).
The student can obtain the following certificates:
- Certificate of Attendance
Obtained after attending a monthly course, without taking a final test. - Certificate of Achievement
Obtained after attending a monthly course and taking a final test. - Diploma of Proficiency in the Italian Language
Obtained after attending two months for level A1 and three months for levels A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2, and passing a final exam. In C1 and C2 level courses, the certificate of proficiency in the Italian language can only be obtained if, in addition to attending the language course for its entire duration, the student also attends two culture courses (chosen from those offered monthly).
The cost for issuing the certificate of attendance and the diploma (and any associated taxes) is included in the registration fee for the Italian language and culture courses.
