Internships and traineeships

The internship is of fundamental importance as it creates a tangible connection between the world of work and the university environment from which the student originates. This experience represents an important opportunity to engage with the professional world.

Students who wish to complete a curricular internship must send the following documentation by email at least 6 months before the scheduled date of their thesis defense to stageplacement@unistrapg.it:

• an up-to-date CV
• self-certification or a scanned copy of the university transcript for verification of completed exams

The internship is mandatory and takes place during the final year of the degree programme.

At the end of the internship, the host organization will certify the attendance with an appropriate certificate and provide an evaluation of the outcome.

ECTS credits allocated for curricular internships in different programmes

For Bachelor's/Master's programmes with internships of 6 ECTS credits:

• The internship takes place in the final year of the programme.
• The minimum duration is 200 hours to be completed over a period of no less than 2 months, up to a maximum of 6 months.
• The extension of the internship depends on the completion of the training plan agreed with the host institution and/or the programme tutor.

For the Bachelor's programme in Made in Italy Food and Hospitality providing 8/9 ECTS credits internships:

• The internship takes place in the final year of the programme.
• The minimum duration is 300 hours over a period of no less than 3 months (for 8 ECTS credits internships) or 350 hours over a period of no less than 3 and a half months (for 9 ECTS credits internships), up to a maximum of 6 months.
• The extension of the internship depends on the completion of the training plan agreed with the host institution and/or the programme tutor.

For the Bachelor's programme in International Studies for Sustainability and Social Security (SIS) - 6/12 ECTS credits:

• The internship takes place in the final year of the programme.
• The minimum duration is 200 hours over a period of no less than 2 months (for 6 ECTS credits internships), or 400 hours over a period of no less than 4 months (for 12 ECTS credits internships), up to a maximum of 6 months.
• The extension of the internship depends on the completion of the training plan agreed with the host institution and/or the programme tutor.

The internship consists of classroom observation activities in Italian classes for foreigners and can be carried out at the University for Foreigners of Perugia or at external public or private institutions.

These activities pertain to the following degree programmes:
Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Humanities for Italian (DHI) - 6 ECTS
Master’s Degree in Italian for Teaching to Foreigners (ItaS) - 6 ECTS

All students in the 2nd year of the Master's programme ItAS and the 3rd year of the Bachelor's programme DHI are required to attend the Internship Day for the 2024/2025 academic year: 10 hours of preparatory theoretical and methodological lectures ahead of the internship period.
