Erasmus+ Programme

Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport in Europe.

The name Erasmus is the acronym for EuRopean community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students.

What does it mean to take part in Erasmus+ today?

Participating in the Erasmus+ Programme means benefiting from a boundless opportunity. Erasmus+ entails engagement, personal growth and a concrete experience of European mobility.

The Programme stands for inclusivity and high-quality education, as well as for opportunities for teaching and work or volunteering experiences.

Erasmus+ is open to all ages, empowering active participation in democratic society, facilitating genuine intercultural understanding—including through language learning—and fostering openness and development towards the world of work. Erasmus+ helps to nurture empathy.

Erasmus+ is synonymous with a transformative life experience, personal growth and open-mindedness (hence its motto: Enriches lives, opens minds). Erasmus+ offers mobility and cooperation opportunities among peoples and countries for projects aimed at:

  • School education, including early childhood education and care. This includes projects in school education involving school leaders, teachers and school staff, as well as pupils at all levels, from pre-school to primary and secondary education.
  • Vocational education and training, for apprentices and students attending vocational institutes, professionals and vocational training staff, staff of initial vocational training organisations, trainers and professionals in companies.
  • Higher education, involving students of all three cycles (Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD or equivalent), as well as academic staff, staff of higher education institutions, trainers and professionals in companies.
  • Youth, aged 13 to 30, including youth workers, organisations active in the youth sector, associations, local authorities, NGOs and informal youth groups.
  • Adult education, for members of adult education organisations, trainers, staff of adult education institutions and adult learners.
  • Sport, for professionals and volunteers in the sector, including athletes and coaches. The 2021–2027 programme places strong emphasis on social inclusion, the green and digital transition, and on promoting youth participation in democratic life.

The programme consists of three actions:

  1. Key Action 1: individual mobility for learning purposes
  2. Key Action 2: cooperation for innovation and best practices
  3. Key Action 3: support for policy reform

The Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) is an integral part of the University’s Internationalisation strategy and a document required to obtain the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.
