The internship will take place at the operational offices of the Comunità di Sant'Egidio ACAP APS.

Intercultural mediation is a tool to promote the integration of foreign nationals within the community and enhance diversity, as recognised in Legislative Decree No. 286/1998, particularly in articles 38 and 42. Today, the professional role of the intercultural mediator is required in a range of sectors, including, but not limited to: education and training; cultural inclusion; civic participation; healthcare; justice and the penal system; access to social services and public administrations; administrative procedures relating to immigration, citizenship and asylum; and the use of universal public services.
Admission to the programme requires:
- a secondary school diploma obtained in Italy or abroad
- linguistic proficiency at least at B1 level (only for international applicants) and cultural suitability (for all candidates)
- Carefully read the Call for Applications for the Degree Programme
- By 12:00 noon on 9 November 2026, submit your application for admission via the dedicated online procedure available on the Esse3WEB (Cineca) platform at: https://unistrapg.esse3.cineca.it.

IMPORTANT! To complete the application, you will need:
1. Information about your upper secondary school qualification, which you will be required to declare in the “ACCESS QUALIFICATIONS” section;
2. The following documents, which must be uploaded in the “MANAGEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS AND DOCUMENTS FOR ASSESSMENT” section (in PDF, JPG, or PNG format):
– Valid identity document
– Upper secondary school qualification documentation if obtained abroad
– Residence permit documentation if you are a citizen of a non-European Union country other than Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, San Marino, or Vatican City and are resident or domiciled in Italy. - Attend the language and cultural suitability interview
The selection will be conducted by the Comunità di S. Egidio ACAP APS, at the premises in Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, 23 (Rome) on the following three dates:
– Thursday, 26 November 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
– Sunday, 29 November 2026, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
– Thursday, 3 December, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
When completing your application, you must indicate the date on which you intend to take the interview. - Check your admission to the Degree Programme: the list of admitted candidates will be published on this page from 16 December 2026. Each candidate will also be able to view the competition results in their personal area on Esse3WEB at the same time.
- Complete your enrolment and pay the Degree Programme tuition fee (EUR 200.00) by 11 January 2027.
The course comprises:
- 320 hours of classroom teaching, organised into 13 modules covering applied social sciences, legal-economic subjects, and historical-political subjects.
The lessons will take place in person at the premises of Comunità di Sant’Egidio ACAP APS (Via San Gallicano, 25/A – Rome). - 180 hours of internship.

What does the internship involve?
The internship takes place at the operational sites of Comunità di S. Egidio ACAP APS and may include the following activities:
- Reception and mediation in canteens and drop-in centres; medical hub
- Outreach activities for homeless individuals
- Support and guidance in administrative procedures relating to immigration, residence and social security, as well as healthcare procedures
- Cultural mediation in family and school relations and neighbourhood interactions, with a particular focus on families with a migration background and elderly people
Is attendance compulsory?
Attendance is compulsory for at least 70% of classroom activities and 70% of internship activities.
Are there assessments?
At the end of the course, a written examination will be conducted covering the topics addressed in the 13 teaching modules.
At the end of the internship, a report on the activities carried out must be submitted, which will be discussed in a final interview.
Teaching activities will take place from 28 January to 7 November 2027.
Classes will be held on Sunday mornings and Thursday afternoons at the following times:
- Sunday, from 9:00 to 14:00
- Thursday, from 15:00 to 20:00
Upon completion of the course, the University for Foreigners of Perugia will issue the following certificates to participants:
- certificate of completion of the course with the award of 40 ECTS credits for those who have met the attendance requirement and passed the assessments
- certificate of attendance without ECTS credits for those admitted to participate without the required qualification
