The Centre for Language Assessment and Certification (CVCL) of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, established in 2005 as an autonomous university centre, builds on a longstanding tradition in Italian L2 and LS certification, developed by the University of Perugia since 1987.
The Università per Stranieri di Perugia is a founding member of ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe), established in 1991, and of the CLIQ association (Certificazione Lingua italiana di Qualità), which since 2013 brings together the four official Italian language certification authorities recognised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).
