What is a University Master’s Degree
In the Italian university system, a Master’s degree is a post-graduate academic qualification focused on advanced scientific training and continuing or recurring professional development, undertaken after obtaining a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree.
The university Master’s degree differs from other post-graduate courses by requiring a minimum duration of one academic year (1,500 hours) and the award of 60 university credits (CFU).
Earning a university Master’s degree allows students to use the credits earned—wholly or partially—in other study programmes, specialisations, or additional Master’s degrees.
University Master’s degrees are classified as First Level and Second Level. Admission to First Level Master’s degrees requires a Bachelor’s degree, while admission to Second Level Master’s degrees requires a Master’s degree (or a Specialist degree).
Holders of four-year degrees from the previous Italian university system may access both First and Second Level Master’s degrees.
First Level Master’s degrees are multidisciplinary, while Second Level Master’s degrees are designed for advanced specialisation.

First Level Master's Degree in "Teaching Italian as a Non-Native Language"
The Master's program aims to deepen knowledge of the structures, uses, and varieties of the Italian language for teaching Italian as a non-native language, as well as the main theories related to learning Italian as a second language and contemporary language teaching methodologies.
Second Level Master's Degree in "Teaching Italian as a Non-Native Language"
The Master's programme provides advanced knowledge and develops highly specialized skills in the field of teaching Italian as a second or foreign language (L2/LS). In particular, it prepares teachers who work in the field of Italian L2/LS instruction for specific purposes (academic or professional) both in Italy and abroad, as well as those teaching general-purpose courses to diverse learners.
First-Level Master’s Degree in Urban and Territorial Regeneration and Resilience
The master's programme aims to train multidisciplinary professionals capable of managing the complex processes of urban and territorial regeneration from multiple perspectives (environment and ecosystems, cities and neighbourhoods, construction, infrastructure, cultural heritage).
First Level Master’s Degree in “Contemporary Journalism”
The Master's program is primarily intended for professional journalists and publicists, as well as for anyone interested in entering these professions. The program provides knowledge and skills relevant to the global context and encourages the diversification of professional competencies in relation to the institutional settings and communication environments in which media professionals can develop or strengthen their career paths.
