What is a university master’s degree
A master’s degree, in the Italian university system, is a postgraduate qualification aimed at scientific specialization and advanced—continuous and recurrent—training, obtained after completing a bachelor’s degree or a master’s/specialist degree.
The university master’s program differs from other postgraduate courses due to its minimum duration of one academic year (1,500 hours) and the awarding of 60 ECTS credits.
By obtaining a university master’s degree, students may be able to transfer the credits earned—wholly or partially—towards other degree programs, specialization courses, or other master’s degrees.
University master’s degrees are classified as first-level and second-level programs. To be admitted to a first-level master’s, a bachelor’s degree is required; to enroll in a second-level master’s, a master’s degree (or specialist degree) is required.
Those who have earned four-year degrees under the former system may access master’s programs at both levels.
First-level master’s degrees are multidisciplinary, while second-level master’s degrees are designed for advanced specialization.

First-level Master's Degree in "Teaching Italian as a Non-Native Language"
The master’s programme is designed to deepen knowledge of the structures, uses, and varieties of the Italian language for teaching Italian as a non-native language, as well as the main theories related to the acquisition of Italian as a second language (L2) and to glottodidactic methodologies.
Second Level Master’s Degree in "Teaching Italian as a Non-Native Language"
The Master's programme provides advanced knowledge and develops highly specialised skills in the field of teaching Italian as a second or foreign language (L2/FL). In particular, it prepares teachers to teach Italian L2/FL for specific purposes (academic or professional), both in Italy and abroad, as well as in courses aimed at general purposes and audiences.
First-level Master’s Degree in Urban and Territorial Regeneration and Resilience
The Master's program aims to train versatile professionals capable of managing the complex processes of urban and territorial regeneration from multiple perspectives (environment and ecosystems, cities and neighborhoods, construction, infrastructure, cultural heritage).
First-level Master's Degree in "Contemporary Journalism"
The master's program is primarily designed for professional and freelance journalists, as well as for anyone interested in entering these professions. The course provides knowledge and skills concerning the global context and fosters the diversification of professional competencies in relation to the institutional settings and communication environments in which information professionals can develop or consolidate their career paths.
