Umbria Vai | TPL Pass for Local Public Transport of the Umbria Region

Would you like to travel and explore Umbria by bus with a single discounted fare pass?

Students enrolled for the academic year 2026-2027 can benefit from the UMBRIA VAI pass and travel without limits on the Local Public Transport services of the Umbria Region, which include:

  • local public transport services by bus, both urban and interurban

  • the Sansepolcro – Terni and Perugia Ponte San Giovanni – Perugia Sant’Anna railway lines (formerly Ferrovia Centrale Umbra)

  • Minimetrò

  • Orvieto funicular railway

The pass may be requested by students enrolled or registered at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, belonging to the following categories:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Programmes
  • Master’s Degree Programmes
  • Incoming Erasmus Programme
  • International students attending Italian language and culture courses
  • PhD programmes
  • First and second level Master’s programmes
  • Advanced training courses
  • Teacher training course
  • Single courses

To obtain the pass, you must first request it on the Esse3WEB platform of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia and pay the amount of €70.00 via Pago PA notice, either at the time of enrolment/registration or afterwards.

  1. Log in to the Umbria Busitalia school/university subscription portal with your SALGO app credentials or register if you do not already have an account.
  2. Create the virtual card by uploading a passport-style photo, selecting the UNIPG and UNIPG STRA profile (already paid via PagoPA), entering your Italian tax code (this operation should be done only once to verify the €70.00 payment), and providing the phone number of the device on which you use the SALGO app.
  3. Select the TPL UMBRIA-UNIPG pass subscription, entering the mobile phone number of the device where you will view the pass (only one phone number can be associated with a single device), and complete the pass issuance process free of charge.
  4. Afterwards, open the SALGO app and log in with your credentials. Your personal pass will be available in the “MY TICKETS” section of the app.
