Double Degree between the Master’s Degree in International Relations and Development Cooperation (RICS) and the Master’s Degree in Global International Relations and Public Diplomacy at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow, Poland

Each year, universities publish a call for applications for student selection. The evaluation is carried out by a committee composed of at least two members from each university. The committee may conduct the selection process through online meetings. Before the committee meeting, candidates are interviewed at their home university.

To enroll in the second year of the double degree programme, students must:

  • have obtained the ECTS credits required by the first-year study plan
  • have certified proficiency in English at a minimum level of B2/CEFR

The mobility period corresponds to the second academic year, which cannot be divided, of the Master’s degree programme, and may be combined with an Erasmus+ mobility period (by submitting an application according to the annual Erasmus call deadlines).

During the mobility period, students are required to attend the courses outlined in the study plan developed by the two universities and to successfully complete all required examinations, for a total of 60 ECTS credits, including the compulsory internship and the thesis defence.

Students participating in the double degree programme

  • are enrolled at both universities during the academic year and pay tuition fees only at their home institution
  • are considered fully enrolled students, with the same benefits, rights, and responsibilities as regular students. In particular, they have access to: courses, tutorials, laboratory internships, seminars, and conferences
  • therefore hold student status at both institutions
  • must comply with the internal regulations of the host institution and with all legal obligations of the host country
  • are required to comply with the legislation in force in the host country, particularly regarding health insurance and social security

Both universities are responsible for all administrative enrolment procedures and the management of student records for those coming from the partner university, through their respective student offices and academic coordinators for the double degree programme.

Students are required to regularly attend classes and take the related exams according to the regulations of the host university.

During their study period abroad, students must comply with the academic regulations of the host institution regarding course organization, examination procedures, and assessment methods.

Courses are taught in English.

Students of the University for Foreigners of Perugia complete a final examination at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow at the end of their mobility period (second year), in accordance with the regulations of the Jagiellonian University of Krakow for the awarding of the Master’s degree.

As part of the examination, students carry out individual research culminating in the submission of a master’s thesis and the final examination.

The thesis application must be submitted by 15 September of the final year of study, and the thesis must be defended within 30 days of submitting the application, preferably in agreement with the University for Foreigners of Perugia, for the purpose of awarding the RICS degree.

By way of exception to the thesis regulations of the University for Foreigners of Perugia, the final examination at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow is also considered as the thesis defense for the University for Foreigners of Perugia, provided that a member of the University for Foreigners of Perugia faculty participates in the evaluation committee, including through remote means.

Students must, in any case, submit a formal thesis application via email to the Student Office of the University for Foreigners of Perugia, pay the required fee, and send a copy of their final thesis before defending it at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow.
