The Master's degree program in Advertising, Storytelling, and Visual Culture trains specialists in strategic management within the field of communication, equipping them to enhance both the internal and external image of institutions and businesses. Alongside a solid theoretical foundation in strategic communication, graduates gain advanced skills in designing and developing communication plans, including at the international level, thanks to their fluency in multiple foreign languages.

Course Information

  • develop in-depth knowledge in the fields of linguistics, semiotics, and sociology, essential for managing communication techniques, with a particular focus on advertising copywriting
  • acquire skills in the creation and production of audiovisual and digital content in the fields of advertising and corporate communication
  • develop specific expertise in designing and developing communication strategies
  • develop both theoretical and technical knowledge of the various media channels
  • acquire tools for psychosocial, qualitative, and quantitative analysis to evaluate and monitor communication outputs
  • achieve proficiency in two European Union languages and their relevant sectoral communication registers
  • develop skills in promoting, managing, and using information and communication technologies

Graduates will be qualified to take on roles of responsibility in the field of communication within public, private, and non-profit organizations, both Italian and international; in communication and advertising agencies, press offices and public relations, publishing and multimedia companies, media centers, and television and film production companies. Additional relevant professional fields include editorial offices of radio, television, and digital news outlets, newspapers and magazines, and news agencies.

The programme prepares graduates for specific professional profiles:

  • art director, copywriter, account manager, media planner
  • communications and marketing manager
  • designer of audiovisual and multimedia products
  • press officer
  • webmaster, web designer, web content manager
  • news management operator and executive; specialist in media relations strategy

The Master’s Degree in Advertising Communication, Storytelling and Corporate Culture, degree class LM-92 (Communication theory), qualifies holders to access the new teaching subject class: A-65 Theory and Technique of Communication. This subject may be taught in the second two-year cycle of Technical Institutes, Technological sector, Graphic and Communication track.

In order to be eligible to access this teaching class, second-year students must include in their study plan the examination “Sociology of International Journalism” taught by Prof. Rolando Marini (SPS/08), Master’s Degree Course RICS.

*The 9 ECTS credits assigned to foreign language courses include 3 ECTS carried out by a mother-tongue language assistant (CEL/Lettore madre lingua).
** Elective educational activities are independently chosen by the student from among the university’s activated bachelor’s degree programmes of equivalent level. In addition, the course recommends the listed options as they are considered consistent with the course contents and learning objectives.

Students can check in their study plans which courses are mandatory, optional, or elective.

To enroll in the Master's degree program in Advertising Communication, Storytelling and Image Culture, students must hold a Bachelor's degree or a three-year university diploma, or another foreign qualification recognized as equivalent. Additionally, in order to register for the above-mentioned program, students must:

  • meet the required curricular prerequisites
  • take an entrance interview. The candidate may attend the interview only if they possess the required curricular prerequisites

Admission to the Master's degree program in Advertising Communication, Storytelling and Image Culture requires possession of a three-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the classes L5, L-10, L-11, L12, L-15, L-18, L-24, L-33, L-36, L-37, L-39, L-40, L-20, L-GASTR, or attainment of 60 ECTS credits (CFU) in the following Scientific Disciplinary Sectors (SSD):

Any surplus credits earned beyond the 180 required in the Bachelor's degree program may be counted, provided they were obtained in courses related to the listed areas and sectors. Similarly, language and/or IT certificates and/or relevant internship experiences deemed pertinent to the listed areas and sectors may be included, if they were not already counted toward the Bachelor’s degree requirements.

Any additional ECTS credits required to fulfill the curricular prerequisites must be acquired before enrollment in the Master’s degree program and before the individual skills assessment. These credits may be earned at any university in the form of “individual courses” within first-cycle degree programs.

The possession of curricular prerequisites will be verified by the Degree Programs and Teaching Secretariat, to which students may send their documentation by e-mail to segreteria.laurea@unistrapg.it or submit it in person at the Secretariat (Palazzina Orvieto, Viale C. Manuali, 9 - 06123 Perugia).

For the verification of curricular prerequisites, students must present the following documents:

  • a copy of the degree certificate (for graduates), including a list of exams passed with respective credits and the relevant scientific-disciplinary sectors
  • a copy of the certificate listing exams taken and to be taken (for graduating students), with the credits earned and to be earned and the relevant scientific-disciplinary sectors.
