
The Bachelor's degree programme in International and Advertising Communication (ComIP), offered by the Department of International Human and Social Sciences, addresses the most current needs of the labour market by training communication professionals with communication, digital, and language skills to work in the fields of advertising, corporate communication, non-profit and institutional communication, within organisations operating at both national and international levels.
The programme is structured into two study tracks:
- the International Communication track (COMIP-I) provides graduates with skills related to communication strategies and techniques used in international organisations and entities within the public, private, and non-profit sectors. In addition to the core modules common to both tracks, this path includes legal and political science courses focusing on multicultural societies and the use of digital technologies
- the Advertising Communication track (COMIP-P) provides competencies in corporate communication, marketing, social and advertising communication. The main courses are focused on language and linguistics, semiotics, business and economics, and digital communication
Course Information
- acquire theoretical knowledge and methodological-professional skills in the fields of communication and language, economics, law, and social sciences
- deepen understanding of psychological, psycho-social, and sociological dynamics of communication
- develop knowledge related to mass communication systems and digital communication
- acquire skills necessary for the design and development of communication plans
- develop advanced abilities in managing internal and external communication flows
- develop skills in the strategic use of the Italian language, with particular regard to drafting promotional and advertising texts for various types of media and communication environments, both digital and traditional
- acquire an in-depth knowledge of two European Union languages and their sector-specific communication registers
- develop specific IT skills, with particular focus on information technologies
- acquire competencies aimed at intercultural communication
The programme trains communication professionals who find employment in press offices and public relations offices, institutes for public opinion and market research, publishing companies and media organisations, radio and television broadcasters, web service agencies, local authorities, foundations, political parties, trade unions and associations, at both national and transnational level.
The acquired skills may also enable graduates to embark on independent entrepreneurial initiatives.
Specifically, the International Communication track prepares graduates to take on roles in:
- international cooperation organisations
- citizenship offices and services supporting multicultural coexistence
- organisations operating internationally in the field of cultural relations
- publishing companies or publishing divisions of international organisations/institutions
- international institutions and organisations for the promotion and development of analogue and digital media
The Advertising Communication track, on the other hand, focuses on developing advanced professional skills for careers in:
- advertising agencies (art director, copywriter, media planner)
- marketing and communication consulting agencies
- event management agencies
- companies targeting international markets
- digital communication agencies and community management services
- publishing companies
