Framework agreement on international academic cooperation between the Université de Lorraine Nancy and the Università per Stranieri di Perugia aimed at awarding double Bachelor's and Master's degrees: the double Bachelor's degree is issued between the “Lingua e Cultura Italiana nel Mondo Digitale” (LiCIMoD) program at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia and the “Langues, Littératures, Civilisations Etrangères et Régionales” (LLCER), Italian Track, Teaching Professions Option, at Université de Lorraine; the double Master’s degree is awarded between the "Italiano per l’Insegnamento a Stranieri" (ItAS) program at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia and the "Métiers de l’Enseignement, de l’Éducation et de la Formation" (MEEF), 2nd-level teaching track (Italian), at Université de Lorraine.
Students of the University for Foreigners of Perugia who wish to apply for the double degree programme and meet the admission requirements must submit their application to the Registrar’s Office (application form, curriculum vitae, and motivation letter in Italian and French) by the end of October:
- for the bachelor’s degree: at the time of enrolment in the second year of the programme
- for the master’s degree: at the time of initial enrolment
- be regularly enrolled
- in the second year of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Italian Language and Culture in the Digital World (LiCIMoD) at the time of application for admission to the double degree program
- in the third year of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Italian Language and Culture in the Digital World (LiCIMoD) and have obtained at least 120 CFU at the time of departure for the double degree mobility
- in the second year of the Master’s Degree Program in Italian for Teaching to Foreigners (ItAS) and have obtained at least 60 CFU at the time of departure for the double degree mobility
- have certified proficiency in the French language
- for the double bachelor’s degree: minimum level B2 (DUEF, DELF, DALF, or assessment test administered by the partner university)
- for the master’s degree: minimum level C1 (DUEF, DELF, DALF, or assessment test administered by the partner university)
The number of students admitted to the double degree programme is determined annually and includes a maximum of ten students per university.
The mobility period corresponds to the third academic year, not divisible, of the Bachelor’s degree programme and to the second academic year, not divisible, of the Master’s degree programme. In both cases, the mobility period may be combined with an Erasmus+ mobility period, by applying according to the yearly Erasmus call deadlines.
During the mobility phase, students are required to attend the courses specified in the study plan jointly developed by the two universities and to complete all required exams, for a total of 60 ECTS, including the compulsory internship.
For the double Bachelor’s degree programme, the internship will be carried out entirely during the mobility year. For the double Master’s degree programme, the internship will be divided equally: half during the first year at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia and half during the second year at the Université de Lorraine Nancy.
Students participating in the double degree programme
- will be enrolled at both institutions during the academic year and will pay tuition fees only at their home university
- will be regarded by both parties as full-time students, with the same benefits, rights, and responsibilities as regular students. In particular, they will have access to courses, tutorials, laboratory internships, seminars, and conferences
- will therefore hold student status at both institutions
- must comply with the internal regulations of the host institution and all legal obligations of the host country
- are required to observe the legislation in force in the host country, particularly with regard to health insurance and social security
Both universities will handle all administrative enrollment procedures and student dossier management for those coming from the partner university through their respective student offices and programme coordinators for the double degree.
Students are required to attend classes regularly and to take the corresponding exams according to the procedures established by the host university's regulations.
During the study period abroad, students must comply with the rules in force at the host university regarding the organization of teaching activities, as well as exam procedures and assessment methods.
The courses will be taught in French.
Students of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia are required to complete a final examination at L’Université de Lorraine at the end of their mobility period (third year for the Bachelor's pathway and second year for the Master's pathway), according to the regulations of L’Université de Lorraine for the awarding of the degree.
Students may write their final Bachelor's examination and Master's thesis in either Italian or French, as agreed upon with their supervisor. In any case, students must also submit a comprehensive summary of their work in the other language.
By way of exception to the thesis regulations of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, the final examination at L’Université de Lorraine will also be considered as the thesis defense for the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, provided that a faculty member from the Università per Stranieri di Perugia is included in the assessment committee, either in person or via remote participation.
Students are still required to submit a formal thesis application by email to the Registrar’s Office of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, pay the relevant fee, and send a copy of the final thesis before the thesis defense at L’Université de Lorraine Nancy.
