
Degree Programme accredited by the National Council of Italian Journalists (CNOG) for the recognition of professional development credits (CFP).
The programme will allow you to:
- critically update your knowledge and skills in journalism within an international context, with particular focus on the European sphere
- gain advanced knowledge in key areas of professional innovation, enhancing adaptability and resilience
- strengthen analytical and interpretive skills to address issues central to public debate in contemporary Western societies
- acquire the skills required to address the digital transformation of journalism and its increasing international reach
- develop competencies in building stable and engaging relationships with a variety of connected audiences, emphasising the role of journalistic mediation
- broaden professional skills to suit institutional settings and communication environments where they may be applied
The master’s programme is primarily aimed at professional and freelance journalists, as well as anyone seeking to enter the profession and requiring extensive training.
The programme addresses:
- the professional challenges linked to global transformations and digital transition
- the needs of those wishing to embark on a career in journalism
- those who aim to advance and improve their current careers
The multidisciplinary pathway is designed to address new requirements for knowledge and skill acquisition arising from the current transformation of the global context and the journalism profession. It promotes the diversification of professional skills in relation to institutional settings and communication environments in which media professionals can develop or consolidate their professional trajectory.
The award of the first-level Master’s degree in “Contemporary Journalism” allows for direct enrolment in the second year of the Master’s Degree Programme in International Relations and Development Cooperation (RICS) at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, provided that the entry requirements for the Master’s Degree Programme are met. Upon recognition of 42 ECTS credits, Master’s graduates who meet the above-mentioned requirements and wish to enrol in the Master’s Degree Programme must obtain the remaining 78 ECTS credits, including those for the thesis, successfully passing all unvalidated exams, including those from the first year.

The national committee of the CNOG (National Council of the Order of Journalists) has awarded the Master’s programme 6 professional development credits (CFP). The Order itself will recognise these credits for journalists registered in the professional roll who obtain the qualification.
