Double Degree between the Master’s Degree Programme in International Relations and Development Cooperation (RICS) and the Master’s Degree in Global International Relations and Public Diplomacy at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow, Poland

Each year, the Universities will publish a call for applications for student selection. The evaluation will be carried out by a committee composed of at least two members from each University. The committee may conduct the selection process through online meetings. Prior to the committee meeting, candidates will undergo an interview at their home University.

To progress to the second year of the double degree programme, students must:

• have acquired the ECTS credits required by the first-year study plan;
• demonstrate certified English language proficiency at least at B2/CEFR level.

The mobility period corresponds to the second academic year, which is indivisible, of the Master’s degree programme, and may be combined with an Erasmus+ mobility period (by submitting an application according to the deadlines set annually by the Erasmus call).

During the mobility phase, students are required to attend the courses specified in the study plan developed by the two Universities and to successfully complete all required examinations, totaling 60 ECTS, including the compulsory internship and thesis defense.

Students participating in the double degree programme

• will be enrolled at both institutions during the current academic year and will pay tuition fees only at their home university
• will be considered by both parties as fully-fledged students, with the same benefits, rights and responsibilities as regular students. In particular, they will have access to courses, tutorials, laboratory internships, seminars, and lectures
• will therefore have student status at both institutions
• will comply with the internal regulations of the host institution and all legal requirements of the host country
• must comply with the legislation in force in the host country, particularly with regard to health insurance and social security

Both universities will manage all administrative enrolment formalities and the handling of student records from the partner university through their respective student offices and academic coordinators for the double degree programme.

Students are required to attend classes regularly and take the corresponding exams according to the procedures established by the host university’s academic regulations.

During their study period abroad, students must comply with the academic organization, examination procedures, and assessment criteria in force at the host institution.

Courses will be taught in English.

Students of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia will take a final examination at the Jagiellonian University of Kraków at the end of the mobility period (second year), in accordance with the regulations of the Jagiellonian University of Kraków for the awarding of the master’s degree. As part of this examination, students will conduct individual research culminating in the submission of their master’s thesis and the final examination. The thesis must be defended within 30 days of submission, by 15 September of the final year, as agreed, preferably, with the Università per Stranieri di Perugia for the purpose of awarding the RICS degree.

By way of exception to the thesis regulations of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, the final examination at the Jagiellonian University of Kraków will also be considered as the thesis defense for the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, provided that a member of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia faculty participates in the assessment committee, either in person or remotely.

Students must, in any case, submit a formal thesis request via e-mail to the Student Office of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, pay the relevant fee, and send a copy of the final thesis before the thesis defense at the Jagiellonian University of Kraków.
