This course is highly innovative: it is the only one in Italy that combines the curriculum and learning objectives of two degree classes—Tourism Sciences and Sciences, Cultures and Policies of Gastronomy.
Through this interdisciplinary approach, the course aims to provide a well-rounded cultural education focused on Made in Italy as a whole, along with practical and technical training that enables students to work within Made in Italy enterprises and the sectors of food, gastronomy, and hospitality.
Course Information
- because tourism, gastronomy, and hospitality are driving sectors in the Italian economy, and there is an increasing demand for higher education and qualifications in these fields
- because Italy is renowned worldwide for its typical products, cuisine, landscapes, and extensive network of accommodation facilities
- because the programme provides the cultural background necessary to promote Made in Italy around the world
- because the programme was developed in partnership with Confcommercio and Coldiretti, and therefore with industry stakeholders and companies operating in the sector, ensuring high-quality internships and traineeships, as well as greater job opportunities upon graduation
- because the programme includes a wide range of activities (seminars, field trips, workshops) that build a bridge between theoretical knowledge and the practical world of food and tourism
- because, thanks to the skills acquired, MICO graduates will be able to either enter the workforce or continue their studies by enrolling in master's programmes or advanced degrees to specialise in various fields related to tourism and food, according to their interests and preferences (economics, law, communication, humanities, neuromarketing, health, etc.)
Except in cases of exemption, international students requiring a visa must demonstrate proficiency in Italian at B2 level of the CEFR.
The programme enables students to acquire the following knowledge and skills:
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the culture and history of Made in Italy
- Gain a comprehensive knowledge of core disciplines in economics, geography, and psychology as applied to tourism, food, and hospitality
