Au pair tutors and facilitators

You probably need a peer tutor!

Who is the peer tutor?

The peer tutor is a student like you, but older, enrolled in a master's degree program or a PhD, who has been specially trained to support the wellbeing of students, in order to prevent crisis situations and promote an inclusive and safe academic environment.

What does a peer tutor do?

  • Helps you understand the academic organization (structure of the academic year, classes, exams) and learn about the University's services
  • Creates opportunities for meeting and discussion to solve problems
  • Promotes student involvement in recreational and cultural activities organized by the University, by the student community or their representatives

Furthermore, according to their specific training, the peer tutor:

  • Provides academic support to help you succeed in your studies

How do you request a peer tutor?

Write to the coordinator, Dr. Sara Tagliamonte, using only your University email address, at sara.tagliamonte@unistrapg.it stating your degree program and describing what you need.

The peer educational tutor is specifically trained to:

  • facilitate understanding of ways to communicate effectively with faculty and the course council

  • assist with the definition of the study plan and the organization of exams

  • find information and materials regarding the course programs

  • develop effective study methods and organize study groups

  • analyze any learning or motivation difficulties, identifying the relevant institutional contacts to address

The peer tutor/facilitator for linguistic and cultural mediation and inclusion is specifically trained to:

  • promote the integration of international students and organize welcome meetings

  • provide linguistic support aimed at improving and consolidating Italian language skills

  • guide and support international students in attending online Italian language courses

  • promote the inclusion of students with particular vulnerabilities, in order to reduce their sense of isolation

The work of facilitator tutors takes place within the MoEBIUS project, which aims to support the psychosocial wellbeing of the academic community through psychological support activities, artistic and cultural activities, and by promoting healthy eating and physical activity.

Ministry of University and Research | PRO-BEN

Recipients: all students enrolled in degree programs at the University for Foreigners of Perugia who have submitted certification of Specific Learning Disorders (Law 170) and/or disability (Law 104 or disability certificate >66%) to the Student Office.

The purpose of the service is to reduce or eliminate possible barriers to ensure that students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders can be smoothly and actively integrated into the university environment, in order to become directly involved in the academic journey.

The peer tutor for disabilities/SLD is specifically trained to:

  • facilitate access to university services
  • assist with administrative procedures
  • attend classes
  • provide study support for exam preparation
  • facilitate the process of achieving autonomy

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Assignment will be finalized following an interview with Prof. Cristina Gaggioli, Rector’s Delegate for disability and SLD policies, or with Dr. Sara Tagliamonte, responsible for educational-pedagogical counseling.

  • Thanks to the agreement with AIFA Aps association, some measures can also be extended to students with ADHD certification.
