Intercultural mediation is a tool that facilitates the integration of foreign citizens within the
community and promotes the value of diversity. Its importance has been recognised by Legislative Decree no. 286/1998, with particular reference to Articles 38 and 42. Today, the role of the intercultural mediator is sought after in various fields, including, by way of example: education and training; cultural inclusion; civic participation; healthcare; justice and penal enforcement; access to social services and public administrations; administrative procedures relating to immigration, citizenship, and asylum; use of universal public services.To be admitted to the programme, you must have:

IMPORTANT! To complete the application, you will need the following:
1. Information about your upper secondary school qualification, which you will need to declare in the “ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS” section;
2. The following documents, which you will need to upload in the “QUALIFICATION AND DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT FOR ASSESSMENT” section (PDF, JPG, or PNG format):
- A valid identity document
- Documentation of your upper secondary qualification if obtained abroad
- A residence permit for Italy if you are a citizen of a country outside the European Union other than Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, San Marino, and Vatican City, and you are resident or domiciled in Italy.
The selection will be carried out by the Comunità di S. Egidio ACAP APS, at the venue in Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, no. 23 (Rome) on the following three dates:
- Thursday 26 November 2026, from 17:00 to 20:00
- Sunday 29 November 2026, from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 19:00
>- Thursday 3 December, from 17:00 to 20:00
When completing your application for admission, you must indicate the date on which you intend to take the interview.
The programme consists of:
- 320 hours
The lectures will be held in person at the Comunità di Sant’Egidio ACAP APS venue (Via San Gallicano, n. 25/A – Rome).
What does the internship involve?
The internship is carried
out at the operational sites of Comunità di S. Egidio ACAP APS and may include the following types of activities:- Reception and mediation
Is attendance
compulsory?Attendance is compulsory for at least 70% of the classroom activities and 70% of
the internship activities.Are there any assessments?
At the end of the programme, there
will be a written assessment covering the topics addressed in the 13 teaching modules.At the end of the internship, students are required to submit a report on the activities carried out, which will be discussed in a final interview.
Teaching activities will take place from 28 January to 7 November 2027.
Lectures will be held
on Sunday mornings and Thursday afternoons at the following times:Upon completion of the course, the University for Foreigners of Perugia will issue the following certificates
to participants:- certificate of course completion with the award of 40 ECTS credits for participants
