In line with the longstanding mission of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, as an ambassador
of the Italian language and culture worldwide, the Department of Italian Language, Literature, and Arts in the World, established on 1 January 2022, is primarily dedicated to studying, promoting, and disseminating Italy’s rich cultural heritage. This includes the national language with its varieties, literature, arts, music, theatre, cinema, and audiovisual media, in synergy with the region and with national and international institutions pursuing similar goals. The Department fosters internationalisation and communication processes to facilitate intercultural
dialogue aimed at promoting the Italian language and culture. It encourages national and international collaborations and synergies to drive innovation in teaching and research. The humanities are consistently developed with a focus on Heritage (art, cinema, literature) and Made
in Italy, offering both a broad and diachronic perspective on the culture of our country, enhanced by the study of European and non-European languages and literatures. The Italian language and culture courses—which form the cornerstone of the Università per Stran
ieri di Perugia and have been offered since 1921—provide a comprehensive range of educational opportunities for international students, those enrolled in Degree Programmes at Italian and international universities, and all enthusiasts of the Italian language and culture, utilising advanced teaching and learning methodologies. As the home of major international research projects, the Department serves as a hub for numerous
connections to all places around the world where the knowledge of Italy’s invaluable cultural heritage is promoted. For information
