The Centre for Language Assessment and Certification (CVCL) of the University for Foreigners of Perugia, established in 2005 as an autonomous university centre, has built upon a longstanding tradition and experience in Italian as a second and foreign language certification, developed by the University of Perugia since 1987.
The University for Foreigners of Perugia is one of the founding members of ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe), established in 1991, and of the CLIQ association (Quality Italian Language Certification), which has included since 2013 the four certification bodies for the Italian language officially recognised in this role by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).
