The Master's degree program in Advertising Communication, Storytelling and Image Culture, part of the Department of International Human and Social Sciences, trains specialists in strategic management for the communication sector, equipping them to enhance the internal and external image of organizations and companies. In addition to a strong theoretical understanding of strategic communication, graduates develop advanced skills in designing and developing communication plans, including at an international level thanks to their fluent knowledge of multiple foreign languages.

Course Information

  • develop in-depth knowledge in the fields of linguistics, semiotics, and sociology, essential for mastering communication techniques, with particular focus on advertising copywriting
  • acquire skills in the conceptualization and production of audiovisual and digital products within the fields of advertising and corporate communication
  • develop specific expertise in the design and development of communication plans
  • gain theoretical and practical understanding of various communication media
  • acquire psycho-social, qualitative, and quantitative analysis tools for monitoring and evaluating communication outputs
  • achieve proficiency in two European Union languages and their respective specialized communication registers
  • develop competencies in the promotion, management, and use of information and communication technologies

Graduates will be qualified to take on positions of responsibility in the field of communication within public, private, and non-profit organizations, both in Italy and internationally; in communication and advertising agencies, press offices and public relations, publishing and multimedia companies, media centers, as well as television and film production companies. Additional professional opportunities include editorial offices for radio, television, and online media, daily and periodical newspapers, and press agencies.

The programme outlines the following specific professional profiles:

  • art director, copywriter, account manager, media planner
  • communication and marketing manager
  • designer of audiovisual and multimedia products
  • press officer
  • web master, web designer, web content manager
  • operator and manager in news management and media relations strategies

The achievement of the Master's Degree in Advertising Communication, Storytelling and Corporate Culture, study class LM92 (Communication Theory), qualifies graduates to access the new teaching qualification: A-65 Theory and Technique of Communication. This subject may be taught in the final two years of Technical Institutes, Technological Sector, Graphic Design and Communication track.

In order to be eligible for this teaching qualification, second-year students must include in their study plan the exam in International Journalism Sociology by Prof. Rolando Marini (SPS/08), part of the RICS Master's Degree Programme.

To be admitted to the Master’s Degree Programme in Advertising Communication, Storytelling and Image Culture, students must possess a Bachelor’s degree or three-year university diploma, or another qualification obtained abroad and recognized as valid. In addition, to enroll in the above-mentioned programme, students must:

  • possess the required curricular prerequisites
  • pass an entrance interview. Candidates may take the interview only if they meet the curricular prerequisites

Enrolment in the Master’s Degree Programme in Advertising Communication, Storytelling and Image Culture is subject to holding a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in one of the following classes: L5, L-10, L-11, L12, L-15, L-18, L-24, L-33, L-36, L-37, L-39, L-40, L-20, L-GASTR, or to possessing curricular requirements amounting to a total of 60 ECTS credits in the following Academic Disciplinary Sectors (SSD):

Any additional credits earned beyond the 180 credits required for the Bachelor’s degree—provided they were obtained in subjects relating to the fields and sectors listed above—may be counted in the total. Similarly, relevant language and/or IT certifications and/or internship experiences, if not already counted towards the Bachelor’s degree, may also be included.

Any additional ECTS credits required to meet the curricular prerequisites must be obtained before enrolling in the Master’s Degree Programme and before the individual preparation assessment. These credits may be acquired at any university as “single courses” within first-cycle degree programmes.

The possession of curricular prerequisites will be verified by the Degree Programmes and Teaching Office, to which students may submit their documentation via email at segreteria.laurea@unistrapg.it or deliver it in person to the Office (Palazzina Orvieto, Viale C. Manuali, 9 - 06123 Perugia).

For curricular prerequisite verification, students must submit:

  • a copy of the degree certificate (for graduates), including all exams taken, the credits obtained, and their relevant academic fields
  • a copy of the transcript of exams taken and to be taken (for graduands), indicating credits earned and remaining, and the relevant academic fields.

"On Monday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m. in room B (Valitutti building), there will be a meeting held by the native speaker language instructors, who are responsible for language conversation classes. During the meeting, the various conversation courses available this semester and the corresponding credits will be explained. At the end of the presentation, there will be time allocated for any questions. All students are invited to attend."
