Students enrolled at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia who participate in the double degree programme will:
- in the first year, earn 30 credits at the University of Nantes by attending the first semester of the ‘Master 1 Médiation Culturelle et Communication Internationale - Italian track’ and 30 credits during the second semester at their home university (if they wish to obtain the intermediate Master 1 title from the University of Nantes, they will defend a thesis at the end of the first year at the University of Nantes);
- in the second year, earn 30 credits at their home university and 30 credits at the University of Nantes.
The CIMEPIC double degree requires a total of 120 ECTS credits to be awarded.
Students must hold a bachelor's degree or a three-year university diploma, or another qualification obtained abroad recognized as suitable, and have a good command of French, at least at C1 level of the CEFR.
To be eligible for the second year of study abroad, students must have earned the 60 credits required for the first year by September 30 of the first year of the program.
Students who do not obtain all 60 credits by the June session of the first year may, by way of exception, take advantage of the July and September sessions to complete the 30 credits from the second semester of the first year (the 30 credits from the first semester at Nantes must, however, be obtained on schedule). Students who are unable to earn the required 60 credits by September 30 of the first year will not be allowed to proceed to the second year.
Students enrolled in the CIMEPIC who intend to obtain the Master 1 degree at the University of Nantes at the end of the first year must comply with the deadlines and regulations set by the French university, which requires completion of 60 credits (including the thesis, to be discussed between June and September 30 of the first year).
The methods for assessing academic achievement are those established by the two partner universities within their respective degree programmes.
Students are required to complete a mobility period at the University of Nantes during the first semester of the first year and, during this time, must take some written examinations in French.
The thesis may be written in either Italian or French, as agreed upon with the supervisor. However, students must also provide an extensive summary of their work in the other language.
In order to account for certain structural differences in the organisation of the degree path:
- The thesis examination (worth a total of 15 ECTS) is held at the end of the second year.
- Students wishing to obtain the Master 1 degree in France will defend a thesis during the first year (worth 6 credits, written in Italian or French and evaluated by a University of Nantes committee) and, in the second year, a more extensive thesis (worth 9 credits, in either Italian or French).
- In the second semester of the second year, students who have not obtained the Master 1 degree, who undertake mobility in France and complete an internship, will be awarded 15 credits.
- Students who have obtained the intermediate Master 1 degree at Nantes in the first year and have already defended the first-year thesis (6 credits) will complete their mobility in the second semester at Nantes with an internship worth 21 credits.
