Biographical Note

Enrico Terrinoni is currently a Visiting Professor at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (Beniamino Segre Interdisciplinary Center) and Full Professor of English Literature at the University for Foreigners of Perugia.

In 2024, he received the Presidential Distinguished Service Award granted by the President of Ireland for international achievements in the literary and cultural field. His book on Joyce in Rome, "Su tutti i vivi e i morti." (Feltrinelli, 2022) won the Special Jury Prize of the Francesco de Sanctis Award, the Jury Prize at the Viareggio-Répaci Prize, received a Jury Mention at the Comisso Prize, and won the National English Studies Prize "Sergio Perosa." His edition of Joyce’s Ulysses for Bompiani in 2021 (the world’s first bilingual and annotated edition) won the Capalbio International Prize. His "La vita dell'altro" (Bompiani 2023) on the relationship between Svevo and Joyce won the Fiuggi Storia Prize in 2023. His other award-winning works include the Italian edition of the Spoon River Anthology for Feltrinelli (Città di Firenze – Von Rezzori Prize), the edition, in collaboration with Fabio Pedone, of the last two books of Finnegans Wake for Mondadori (Annibal Caro Prize), and his first translation of Ulysses for Newton Compton (Napoli Prize). He has given lectures in more than thirty countries. He writes for Manifesto, Left, Il Venerdì, and Il Tascabile Treccani. Among his other works: Occult Joyce: The Hidden in Ulysses (Cambridge Scholars, 2007), James Joyce and the End of the Novel (Carocci, 2015), Oltre abita il silenzio. Tradurre la letteratura (Il Saggiatore 2019), Who’s Afraid of the Classics (Cronopio 2020), The Book About Everything (Head of Zeus, 2022), Literature as Dark Matter (Treccani, 2024)
