Department of International Human and Social Sciences

The Department of International Human and Social Sciences was established on January 1, 2022, strengthening and integrating the University's founding international vocation, in line with the current Statute which, in Article 1, dedicates the University “to intercultural dialogue, communication, and international cooperation, in collaboration with the local area and its representative institutions, as well as with national and international institutions pursuing similar goals.”

Within this framework, the Department addresses the visionary challenges faced by multicultural societies and the international community through a multidisciplinary approach, also leveraging the University's advanced language expertise.

The Department’s activities focus primarily on building integrated and complex knowledge that combines aspects of technological and scientific innovation with the fields of human and social sciences, fostering the interconnection of knowledge. Special attention is given to international relations, cooperation, sustainable development, and media ecosystems.

The Department’s mission is to achieve a positive synthesis between advanced specialist education and an interdisciplinary approach, aiming to foster a new relationship between modernity and tradition, between theory and practice, between the global and the local, and between sustainability and development.

The primary area for pursuing these objectives consists of degree programmes, but also includes doctoral programmes, master’s degrees, professional development courses, and other training initiatives carried out in collaboration with institutions, business and social realities, and research centres.

Accordingly, the research lines developed by the Department's faculty and researchers are both inter- and multidisciplinary, including within the scope of European and international projects, across diverse areas such as political, historical, philosophical, sociological, economic, engineering, legal, management, computer sciences, and subjects related to sustainability.
