The Accessible Books Service provides books and/or articles in accessible format to students with dyslexia, visual impairments, or physical-motor disabilities.
The service is managed by the University Library System in collaboration with the University's DSA and Disability Service (SDDA).
Copyright law (Law No. 633/1941, as amended by Law No. 37/2019 and DPCM of July 6, 2020) allows authorized entities to create accessible format copies of works or materials to which they have lawful access, without profit (Art. 71-bis, para. 2-quinquies), intended for specific categories of beneficiaries, including persons who are blind, visually impaired, have perceptual or reading disabilities, or specific physical disabilities (Art. 71-bis, para. 2-bis).
The Università per Stranieri di Perugia, as an authorized entity, provides a service for sourcing and supplying exam texts in accessible formats.
The service includes:
the sourcing and provision of materials already available in digital format;
the digitization of printed texts held by the library;
the sourcing and provision of bibliographic material not present in the University library.
In accordance with legal provisions, this service is available to students with dyslexia, visual impairments or physical-motor disabilities that make it difficult to use printed books. Those who fall into any of these categories must submit the relevant documentation to the Degree Program Office before requesting books in accessible formats.

Material is provided exclusively for study and personal use; any other use is prohibited.

The University for Foreigners of Perugia is not responsible for improper or unlawful use of the service.
To use this service, students must have submitted suitable certification of disability status and/or a clinical report to the Degree Programmes Office. The DSSA service will verify that the student has provided the appropriate documentation entitling them to request this service.
