was established on 1 January 2022, consolidating and further integrating the University’s founding international focus, in line with the current Statute which, in Article 1, defines the University as “dedicated to intercultural dialogue, communication, and international cooperation, in connection with the local area and its representative institutions, as well as national and international institutions pursuing similar goals.”Within this framework, the Department addresses the broad challenges
facing multicultural societies and the international community with a multidisciplinary approach, also drawing on the University’s strong language expertise. The Department focuses primarily on the
creation of integrated and advanced knowledge that combines innovation in science and technology with the fields of the human and social sciences, fostering connectivity between different areas of knowledge, with particular attention to international relations, cooperation, sustainable development, and media ecosystems. The Department aims to achieve a dynamic synthesis between high-level specialist training
and an interdisciplinary approach, to forge a new relationship between contemporary issues and tradition, between theoretical elaboration and practical application, between the global and the local, and between sustainability and development. The implementation of these objectives, primarily through degree
programmes, also includes doctoral programmes, master’s programmes, professional development courses, and other educational initiatives, in partnership with institutions, the business community, social organisations, and research centres.Accordingly, the research lines developed by the Department
’s academic staff and researchers are both inter- and multidisciplinary, including participation in European and international projects in diverse fields such as political science, history, philosophy, sociology, economics, engineering, law, management, computer science, and issues related to sustainability. For information
