The University for Foreigners of Perugia expresses its deepest condolences for the passing of Prof. Maria Teresa Frattegiani.

The sad news leaves a sense of loss and regret among all those at the Università per Stranieri who knew her as a colleague and friend.
Teresa was for many years an instructor in Italian language and culture courses, particularly active in beginner courses—the most challenging ones, as they require not only specific preparation but also a high level of communication skills, empathy, and attention to students' needs.

Students and colleagues alike appreciated her kindness and grace, as well as her dedication and determination in carrying out all her responsibilities. She was always ready to help and collaborate to ensure the success of initiatives and projects she was involved with.

Her passion for and commitment to teaching Italian as a foreign language guided her not only in her classroom practice but also in the study of language teaching techniques and methodologies, which resulted in numerous publications, often written in collaboration with colleagues. She also dedicated herself to the study and practice of language assessment, contributing to the development of tests and examinations for Italian language certification.

The memory of her remains vivid not only among the colleagues who worked with her but especially among the students who took their first steps in learning Italian thanks to her—a true teacher of both language and life.
The entire academic community extends its deepest condolences to her family.
