Student Ombudsperson

The Student Ombudsperson is appointed by the Board of Administration, on the proposal of the Rector, from among individuals with proven expertise in the protection of rights.

The Ombudsperson performs their duties either ex officio or upon request by students, and serves a three-year term.

Ombudsperson’s responsibilities

• examining any complaints submitted by students regarding the conduct of University governing bodies, structures, offices, or individual members of staff considered to contravene regulations or the University’s Code of Ethics, protecting the aggrieved party from retaliation, working to resolve the matter, and referring their conclusions to the competent body
• monitoring the correct application of regulations concerning teaching, student welfare and student progress, in accordance with current legislation
• undertaking all steps necessary for the investigation of facts and, considering the roles of the University’s Governing Bodies, Structures and Administrative Offices as well as the specifics of the case, promoting and ensuring a prompt and effective solution to the issues raised
• supporting students in actions aimed at ensuring appropriate accommodation
• ensuring that students’ rights are respected in relation to the provision of services by public and private facilities in the city. Special attention will be given, upon request by concerned students, to the content of tenancy agreements signed by students and to property owners’ compliance with the contractual obligations
• initiating all necessary measures to address student health emergencies
