What steps are required to initiate a mobility?

Students assigned an incoming mobility placement for study purposes within existing international collaborations must be nominated by their home university via email to erasmus@unistrapg.it (so-called "nomination").

The nomination must:

  1. be sent by the relevant office or authority at the home university;
  2. include the following information:
  • student’s first and last name
  • student’s date and place of birth
  • student’s institutional email address
  • planned mobility period

After receiving this nomination, the Erasmus and International Mobility Office will:

  • verify the formal eligibility of the mobility placement;
  • send the student an email containing all the necessary information for the subsequent application procedure

To submit your application, you must send the following documents by e-mail in .pdf format to erasmus@unistrapg.it:

  1. The Application Form, which you need to fill out, print, and sign;
  2. The Learning Agreement, which you must complete, print, sign personally, and have signed and stamped by your home university;
  3. A copy of your identity document;
  4. A copy of health insurance with suitable coverage valid for the entire mobility period, which you must attach.

In addition to the above documents, you must complete the online application for the regular Italian language and culture courses, which you may attend free of charge as an exchange student.

Once the required documents have been received, the staff of the Erasmus and International Mobility Office at the University for Foreigners of Perugia will carry out the necessary checks and, if successful, will issue the mobility acceptance letter.

Students who have successfully completed the application procedure will receive:

  • approval of their Learning Agreement;
  • the certificate of enrolment in the standard courses of Italian language and culture (issued by the relevant office);
  • an email communication from the Language Courses Office staff, containing the institutional credentials to be used during the mobility period (student ID number, institutional email address, username and password).

Upon receiving the certificate of enrolment, you are responsible for verifying all requirements related to your residence permit in Italy.

Mobility for the Fall semester or the entire academic year:

  • Nomination: 30 June
  • Application: 30 July

Mobility for the Spring semester:

Mobility tutors support Erasmus students in selecting and managing their academic plans, both before and during their mobility period. Each Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral programme has a designated tutor. If needed, Erasmus students may contact their assigned tutor directly using the institutional email address found in the following list.

Management of the Mobility Period

The mobility period begins on the date you personally register your arrival at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia by signing the arrival and registration log at the Erasmus and International Mobility Office (Palazzo Gallenga, first floor).

The date you sign the logbook is considered the official start date of your mobility, which generally coincides with the beginning of the academic semester (see the section on the academic calendar).

If it becomes necessary to make changes to your Learning Agreement, you may propose the requested modifications, previously agreed upon with the mobility coordinator at your home institution, within 30 days from the start date of your mobility period.

In this case, you must complete, sign, and email the document titled "learning agreement during the mobility" to erasmus@unistrapg.it. This document must first be signed by:

  1. yourself;
  2. the mobility coordinator at your home institution.

If approved, the Learning Agreement will be signed by the coordinator at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia and returned to you via email.

The end date of your mobility period must be communicated to the staff of the Erasmus and International Mobility Service (erasmus@unistrapg.it) at least one week before your departure, in order to allow—where possible—the preparation of the final documentation, which will include:

  • mobility certificate;
  • Transcript of Records.

PLEASE NOTE: The end date of your mobility period must correspond to one of the following:

  • the date of your last recorded exam;
  • the date of your last attended class;
  • the date of your last visit to the Erasmus and International Mobility Service.

L’Erasmus+ Experience of Gabriele

Accept youtu.be cookies to view the video. You can manage your preferences in the Cookie Policy.

Gabriele enthusiastically shares his positive experience in the Erasmus+ program at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, which he initially chose out of curiosity, having never heard of it before. He highlights the excellent academic quality, emphasizing the competence and helpfulness of the professors and coordinators, as well as the wide range of courses offered, including the opportunity to learn Italian for free. From a social perspective, he recommends Perugia for its vibrant Erasmus student network (ESN), which organizes daily events, making it easy to meet new friends and engage in cultural exploration. Finally, Gabriele recommends Perugia as an excellent base for traveling around Italy and, in summary, his only regret is having to leave soon and the concern that future exchange experiences may not live up to the high standards set by Perugia.
