Admission of International Students to Degree Programmes

All applicants holding a qualification equivalent to an upper secondary school diploma, obtained after 12 years of schooling, are eligible for admission to Bachelor's degree programmes.

Applicants who have obtained their upper secondary school diploma after 10 or 11 years of schooling must present, in addition to the secondary school diploma, an academic certificate that, in the case of 11 years of schooling, certifies the successful completion of all examinations required for the first year of university in their country, or, in the case of 10 years of schooling, certifies the successful completion of all examinations required for the first two years of university in their country.

The academic certification allows enrolment in the first academic year and recognition of credits only if the duration of university attendance exceeds the period needed to make up the missing school years.

Applicants from countries where a special university entrance examination (academic eligibility test) is required must submit, in addition to the secondary school diploma, a certificate for such entrance examination specifying the grade obtained.

Documents to submit to the University with the pre-enrolment application for Bachelor's degree programmes

• original final upper secondary school qualification, indicating the final grade, or a substitute certificate carrying full legal effect; certificate attesting to the passing of the academic eligibility test, if applicable
• certificate attesting to partial academic studies already completed if the qualification was obtained after less than 12 years of schooling or if you are applying for recognition of prior learning (in this case, the certificate must specify the exams passed and be accompanied by official documentation of the contents of each exam)
• certificates or diplomas attesting to knowledge of the Italian language
• 2 colour passport-sized photos, one of which must be authenticated by the competent Italian Diplomatic Representation
• photocopy of a valid identity document
• Declaration of Value*

*The Declaration of Value, which must be requested from the Italian Diplomatic Representation in your country, is a certificate that confirms that the upper secondary school qualification you hold grants access to university courses in the country where it was obtained.

All documents in a foreign language required for pre-enrolment must be legalised by the Italian Diplomatic Representation and translated into Italian.

The translation may be carried out by local translators; students are required to request certification of the conformity of the translation from the competent Italian Diplomatic Representation.

All admitted international students, like Italian students, must undergo a non-selective interview, which is not to be confused with the Italian language proficiency test, in order to assess their personal preparation.

Information on how to take part, as well as the date and location of this interview, may be requested from the Student Administration Office for Bachelor's degree programmes.

All candidates holding a university degree equivalent to the Italian first-cycle Bachelor's degree are eligible for admission to Master’s degree programmes.

Required Documentation

• Educational qualifications
  • Certificate or substitute document, together with its Italian translation, of the upper secondary school leaving diploma obtained in your home country. This certification must specify: the name of the diploma, the institution where it was obtained, the year of completion, and the number of school years required to obtain the qualification. Please note that, according to Italian regulations, to be admitted to university the qualification obtained abroad must be the result of at least twelve years of schooling. Furthermore, if the student’s country requires academic eligibility exams for university admission (e.g. GaoKao), the certification must state whether these exams have been passed.
  • Certificate or substitute document, with its Italian translation, regarding any university studies completed if the upper secondary diploma was obtained after fewer than twelve years of schooling (at least one year of university must be completed if the duration was eleven years, or two years if the schooling lasted ten years).
• Italian language proficiency
  • Certificate or substitute document, with its Italian translation, confirming proficiency in the Italian language, the level attained, and the institution where the certificate was obtained.
• Curriculum vitae
• Copy of a valid identity document (passport)

All required documents must be submitted in Italian.

The letter of eligibility for enrolment will specify the documents (such as the Dichiarazione di Valore, etc.) related to your educational qualification required for admission to the chosen programme, which, in original form, must be presented upon arrival in Perugia.

The Dichiarazione di Valore, to be obtained from the Italian Diplomatic Representation in your country, is a certificate verifying and confirming that your upper secondary school diploma qualifies you for university admission in the country where it was awarded.

All admitted international students, like Italian students, are required to attend a non-selective interview to assess their academic preparedness. This should not be confused with the Italian language proficiency test.
