Admission to degree programmes for non-EU students residing abroad
Enrollment is considered finalized following the University's assessment, after:
- verification of the authenticity of the submitted documentation and confirmation that the admission requirements have been met
- completion of the entrance examination
- payment of tuition fees
- presentation of the Visa and residence permit
For students enrolling in a master’s degree programme, prior verification of curricular requirements by the relevant Student Office is mandatory.
For non-EU international students residing abroad (visa applicants) who have not been exempted from the Italian language proficiency test, as required by the aforementioned Italian Ministry circular, a test of Italian language proficiency at B2 CEFR level is mandatory, in addition to the entrance examinations required of all Italian and international students.
All candidates holding a qualification equivalent to an upper secondary school diploma, obtained after 12 years of schooling, are eligible for admission to bachelor’s degree programmes.
Candidates who hold a secondary school diploma obtained after 10 or 11 years of schooling must submit, in addition to their secondary school diploma, an academic certificate proving, in the case of 11 years of schooling, the successful completion of all exams required in the first year of university studies in their home country, or, in the case of 10 years of schooling, the successful completion of all exams required in the first two years of university studies in their home country.
The academic certificate allows enrolment in the first academic year and possible shortening of the academic course only if the duration of university attendance exceeds the period necessary to supplement the missing years of schooling.
Candidates from countries where a special university entrance examination (academic eligibility test) is required must also submit, in addition to their secondary school diploma, the relevant certificate for this entrance examination, indicating the score obtained.
Documents to be submitted to the University along with the pre-enrolment application for bachelor’s degree programmes
- Original upper secondary school leaving qualification, indicating the final grade, or an equivalent certificate with full legal validity; certificate of having passed the academic eligibility test, where required
- Certificate of partial academic studies already completed, if the qualification was obtained after less than 12 years of schooling or if recognition of prior university studies is requested (in this case, the certificate must list the exams passed and be accompanied by official documentation of their syllabi)
- Italian language proficiency diplomas or certificates
- 2 recent colour passport-sized photographs, one of which must be authenticated by the competent Italian Diplomatic Authority
- Photocopy of a valid identity document
- Dichiarazione di valore*
*The dichiarazione di valore, to be requested from the Italian Diplomatic Authority in your home country, is a certification that confirms the secondary school qualification you hold gives access to university programmes in the country where it was awarded.
All documents in a foreign language required for pre-enrolment must be legalised by the Italian Diplomatic Authority and translated into Italian.
The translation may be done by local translators, but students must request certification of translation conformity from the relevant Italian Diplomatic Authority.
All admitted international students, as is the case for Italian students, must take a non-selective interview (not to be confused with the Italian language proficiency test) in order to assess their preparedness.
Information regarding procedures, date, and location of the interview can be obtained from the Bachelor’s Degree Course Office.
All candidates holding a university degree equivalent to the Italian first-cycle three-year Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for Master's degree programmes.
Required Documentation
- Academic Certificates
- Certificate or substitute document, with an accompanying Italian translation, relating to the upper secondary school diploma obtained in your home country. The certificate must specify: the name of the diploma, the institution where the diploma was awarded, the year of completion, and the length of schooling leading to the qualification. Please note that according to Italian regulations, in order to be admitted to a university, the foreign qualification must have been obtained after at least twelve years of schooling. Furthermore, if academic eligibility exams (e.g. GaoKao) are required in your country for university admission, the certificate must state whether such exams were passed.
- Certificate or substitute document, with an accompanying Italian translation, relating to university studies completed in the event that the secondary diploma above was obtained after less than twelve years of schooling (at least one year of university must be completed if the schooling is eleven years, or two years if the schooling is ten years).
- Italian Language Proficiency
- Certificate or substitute document, with an accompanying Italian translation, attesting knowledge of the Italian language, including the level attained and the institution where it was obtained.
- Curriculum vitae
- Copy of a valid identification document (passport)
All required documents must be provided in Italian.
The letter of eligibility for enrolment will specify the documentation (such as the “Dichiarazione di Valore”, etc.) relevant to the qualification required for admission to the selected programme, which the student must submit in original form upon arrival in Perugia.
The “Dichiarazione di Valore”, which must be requested from the relevant Italian Diplomatic Representation in the country where the qualification was obtained, is a certificate that verifies and confirms that your upper secondary school diploma allows access to university courses in the country where it was awarded.
All admitted international students, like Italian students, must take a non-selective interview to assess personal readiness, which is distinct from the Italian language proficiency test.
