The delegation, composed of Prof. Ameur Bachir, recently appointed as the new Rector, and Prof. Safa Ouled Haddar, Vice-Rector in charge of External Relations, Cooperation, Promotion and Communication, and Scientific Events, was welcomed today, March 25, 2026, by the Rector of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, together with Prof. Sabrina Stroppa, Director of the Department of Italian Language, Literature and Arts in the World; the Rector's Delegate, Prof. Federica Guazzini; Prof. Borbala Samu, Associate Professor of Modern Language Teaching; Dr. Marco Filardi, Researcher in General Psychology; and the International Relations staff, Dr. Francesco Lampone and Dr. Valentina Seri.
Blida 2 University is one of Stranieri’s longstanding partners in Algeria, and this visit provided an opportunity to renew the collaboration agreement between the two institutions. During the meeting, foundations were laid for participation in future Erasmus Mundus calls, acknowledging the growing importance of double and joint degrees in the international context. Discussions also addressed the organization of the first bilateral conference on Italy-Algeria relations, which Università per Stranieri is developing in collaboration with Blida 2 and other Algerian partner universities, as well as participation in ongoing or upcoming research projects focused on the study of attitudes and habits of international students and the development of materials and resources for teaching Italian to Arabic speakers.
The visit will continue tomorrow with a meeting with the Algerian student community, which is significant at Stranieri thanks in part to the important partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the ITALYOU project, aimed at training future teachers of Italian in African countries.
