Nota biografica

Associate professor at the Department of International Human and Social Sciences at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, he carries out research and teaching activities in the field of the sociology of culture and media. He was trained at the University of Perugia, where he obtained his PhD in Theories and Research on Politics (2016), further enhancing his education with a master's degree in Data Science at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” (2017).

After his PhD, he conducted research activities at the Department of Political Science of the University of Perugia within the framework of the European project ANTICORRP – Anticorruption Policies Revisited. Global Trends and European Responses to the Challenge of Corruption (2016-2017). He was subsequently a research fellow at the University for Foreigners of Perugia (2017-2019) and at the Department of the Arts at Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna (2020-2021). From 2022 to 2025, he held the position of fixed-term researcher type B (RTD-B) at the Department of International Human and Social Sciences at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, where, as of October 1, 2025, he is Associate Professor.

His research interests are positioned at the intersection of politics, culture, communication and media, with particular attention to the processes of production, legitimization and circulation of knowledge and symbolic-cultural goods in the public sphere, understood as a site of negotiation and conflict over the meanings that guide social experience.

His work has deepened the role of traditional and digital media and journalism in debates on controversial topics such as immigration, corruption, and ecological transition. He has also focused on the process of regionalization of social sciences (SSH), in particular on the role of EU-sponsored thematic research projects as a tool for coordinating scientific activities at a European level. Currently, he is working on the relationship between memory, writing, and social recognition, investigating how socio-autobiographical and narrative practices can become critical devices for processing lived experience and challenging the symbolic hierarchies that structure contemporary social experience.

He has participated in national and international projects and spent a visiting period as a chercheur invité at the Centre européen de sociologie et de science politique (CESSP-CNRS-EHESS-Université Paris 1, 2023).

He is the author of two monographs – Bourdieu, Latour and the Sociology of Journalism (Orthotes, 2024) and The Europe of Knowledge (FrancoAngeli, 2022) – and of numerous articles in top-tier peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Comunicazione Politica (ComPol), on the editorial staff of Quaderni di Teoria Sociale (QTS) and of the Scientific Committee of the Centro Studi RILES.

At the university, he is President of the Joint Faculty-Student Commission of the SUSI Department, a member of the Quality Assurance Group of the Bachelor’s in International and Advertising Communication (ComIP), and part of the faculty board of the PhD in Frontier Sciences in Sustainability, Diplomacy and International Cooperation.
