Admission of International Students to Degree Courses

All candidates holding a qualification equivalent to an upper secondary school diploma obtained after 12 years of schooling are eligible to enroll in bachelor's degree programmes.

Candidates holding a secondary school diploma earned after 10 or 11 years of schooling must present, in addition to the secondary school diploma, an academic certificate attesting, in the case of 11 years of schooling, the successful completion of all the exams required for the first year of university in their home country or, in the case of 10 years of schooling, the successful completion of all the exams required for the first two years of university in their home country.

The academic certification allows enrolment in the first academic year and may grant advanced standing only if the duration of university attendance exceeds the period required to compensate for the missing years of schooling.

Candidates from countries where a special university entrance examination (academic eligibility test) is required must submit, in addition to the secondary school diploma, certification of the entrance examination, indicating the grade obtained.

Documents to be submitted with the pre-enrolment application for bachelor’s degree programmes

• original final secondary school certificate, indicating the final grade, or a legally valid substitute certificate; certificate confirming successful completion of the academic eligibility test, if required
• certificate attesting to partial academic studies already completed if the qualification was obtained after fewer than 12 years of schooling or if requesting advanced standing (in this case, the certificate must specify the passed examinations and be accompanied by official documentation of the relevant course syllabi)
• diplomas or certificates of Italian language proficiency
• 2 recent colour passport-size photos, one of which must be certified by the competent Italian Diplomatic Representation in your country
• photocopy of a valid identity document
• Dichiarazione di valore*

*The Dichiarazione di valore, which must be requested from the Italian Diplomatic Representation in your home country, is a certificate that certifies and confirms that your secondary school qualification grants access to university courses in the country where it was awarded.

All required documents in a foreign language must be legalised by the Italian Diplomatic Representation and translated into Italian.

The translation may be carried out by local translators, and students must request the competent Italian Diplomatic Representation to certify the conformity of the translation.

All admitted international students, like Italian students, are required to attend a non-selective interview to assess personal preparation. This is not the same as the Italian language proficiency test.

Information regarding the procedure, date, and location of the interview can be requested from the Bachelor’s Degree Programme Office.

All candidates holding a university degree equivalent to an Italian first-cycle Bachelor’s degree are eligible for admission to Master’s degree programmes.

Required Documentation

• Academic qualifications
  • Certificate or substitute document, with accompanying Italian translation, regarding the secondary school leaving diploma obtained in your home country. The certification must specify: the name of the diploma, the institution where the qualification was awarded, the year of graduation, and the total years of schooling completed to obtain the qualification. Please note that, under Italian regulations, a foreign qualification must be acquired after at least twelve years of schooling for university admission. Furthermore, if academic eligibility tests (e.g., GaoKao) are required in your country for university admission, the certification must clearly state whether or not such tests were passed.
  • Certificate or substitute document, with accompanying Italian translation, relating to any university studies undertaken, if the above-mentioned diploma was obtained after fewer than twelve years of schooling (at least one year of university must be completed if schooling lasted eleven years, or two years if schooling lasted ten years).
• Italian language proficiency
  • Certificate or substitute document, with accompanying Italian translation, stating knowledge of the Italian language, level achieved, and the institution where the certification was obtained.
• Curriculum vitae
• Copy of a valid identification document (passport)

All required documents must be produced in Italian.

The letter of eligibility for enrolment specifies the documentation (Declaration of Value, etc.) relating to the qualification required for admission to the chosen course; the original documents must be presented by the student upon arrival in Perugia.

The Declaration of Value, which must be requested from the competent Italian Diplomatic Representation in your home country, is a certificate that verifies and confirms that the secondary school qualification you hold entitles you to university admission in the country where it was obtained.

All admitted international students, like Italian students, must take a non-selective interview (distinct from the Italian language proficiency test) to assess their personal academic preparation.
