Erasmus +

Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth, and sport in Europe.

The name Erasmus is an acronym for the EuRopean community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students.

What does participating in Erasmus+ mean today?

Taking part in the Erasmus+ Programme means enjoying boundless opportunities. Erasmus+ offers participation, personal growth, and a tangible experience of European mobility.

The Programme stands for inclusiveness and high-quality education, as well as opportunities for teaching, work experiences, or volunteering.

Erasmus+ welcomes people of all ages, fostering active participation in democratic society, genuine intercultural understanding—also through language learning—and opening the way to the world of work. Erasmus+ helps to nurture empathy.

Erasmus+ stands for a significant life experience, personal enrichment, and broadening of horizons (hence its motto: Enriching lives, opening minds). Erasmus+ provides opportunities for mobility and cooperation among people and countries through projects in the following areas:

  • School education, including early childhood education and care. This encompasses projects in the school education sector, involving school leaders, teachers, and school staff, as well as pupils at all levels of school education, from pre-primary to primary and secondary schools.
  • Vocational education and training, for apprentices and students attending vocational institutes, professionals and vocational training staff, initial vocational training organisation staff, trainers, and professionals working in companies.
  • Higher education, including students across all three cycles (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees or equivalents), as well as academic staff, higher education institution staff, trainers, and professionals in companies.
  • Youth, aged 13 to 30, as well as youth workers, organizations active in the youth sector, associations, local authorities, NGOs, and informal youth groups.
  • Adult education, meaning members of adult education organizations, trainers, adult education staff, and adult learners.
  • Sport, for professionals and volunteers in the sector, including athletes and coaches. The 2021-2027 programme places a strong emphasis on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and on promoting young people’s participation in democratic life.

The programme consists of 3 actions:

  1. Key Action 1: individual mobility for learning purposes
  2. Key Action 2: cooperation for innovation and good practices
  3. Key Action 3: support for policy reform

The Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) is an integral part of the University's Internationalisation Strategy and is a mandatory document for obtaining the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.
