Politics in the post-truth era and the resilience of the public sphere in Europe (POPSPHERE)

SSD: SPS/08

Durata:

Within the framework of the debate on the concept of post-truth, the project aims to study the strategies and activities of certain actors in the European public sphere in order to highlight their ability to respond to crises. The crises referenced include the pandemic, recent military conflicts, and migration crises in their European context, also considering their impact in terms of delegitimizing institutions at both the national level and the level of the European Union. The actors studied are European political parties, European transnational youth movements, and media outlets from various European countries. The UnistraPG team focuses on journalism, paying particular attention to the representations of crises. In this sense, the analysis concerns the processes of news selection and thematization within the development cycles of crises. The approach is multi-national and comparative.
