DROPS – Reflections on a Changing World

"DROPS – Reflections on a Changing World" is the open access journal promoted by the WARREDOC Center and the UNESCO Chair in Water Resources Management and Culture, based at the University for Foreigners of Perugia. The publication offers a multidisciplinary platform for discussion, focusing particularly on topics related to water, understood as a key to interpreting the environmental, scientific, social, geopolitical, and legal transformations of our time.

Every drop counts. This principle guides the editorial initiative, as does the idea that every contribution—from a researcher, a young scholar, or a university student—can enrich a wave of shared thought. We hope that together, these “drops” of knowledge will help generate new perspectives and innovative solutions.

In addition, the journal features an “Undergraduate Research Journal” section, dedicated to university students. The goal is to bring young people closer to the world of research by guiding them in the writing of scientifically oriented articles and allowing them to share ideas and reflections authoritatively, in line with scientific publication standards.

In a global context marked by climate change, water crises, and inequalities in access to resources, water is not only a vital resource but also a powerful connector of cultures, disciplines, and societies. Tackling these challenges requires integrated approaches and plural perspectives, from science to culture, from technology to law, and from philosophy to geopolitics.

Like a river enriched along its course, from source to mouth, DROPS aims to let ideas, reflections, and proposals flow, fostering collective and inclusive reflection oriented toward conscious, positive, and lasting change.

All contributions submitted to DROPS undergo a rigorous Peer Review Process, and there are no publication fees. The journal accepts contributions on water-related topics connected to a range of scientific areas, especially: energy, artificial intelligence, international cooperation, social sciences, and human rights. However, the journal also considers other contributions that can encourage discussion of critical and relevant scientific issues, with particular attention to work by young researchers and students. It is also possible to propose Special Issues dedicated to in-depth analysis of specific topics of scientific and multidisciplinary relevance.
