Promoting multilingual competence in different contexts

SSD: SSD L-LIN/01

Durata:

Although multilingual competence represents a cognitive advantage and not a disadvantage, its development becomes very limited when L2 acquisition takes place in formal contexts (foreign language acquisition in the classroom). With this project, we aim to develop ad hoc methodologies useful for educators and cultural mediators to best promote bi/multilingual competence in different contexts, encouraging the adoption of good practices that can help learners manage their multilingual competence according to the communicative context. Various types of training will be tested, capable of developing crucial processes for multilingual competence at the phonetic-phonological and morphosyntactic levels, together with awareness of transfer and code-switching processes. The main outcome of the project will consist of a protocol useful for teachers, educators, and cultural mediators in L2 to promote multilingual competence in different contexts.
