Armenia after the Nagorno-Karabakh war: a case of continued democratization after defeat in a context of regeneration following the migration of compatriots
The research aims to analyse Armenia following the defeat and loss of Nagorno-Karabakh as a case of continued democratization after defeat. In spite of the trauma caused by the end of Nagorno-Karabakh as an unrecognised independent state with direct ties to Armenia and the subsequent mass influx of refugees into Armenia, the end of this climate of geopolitical tension and the consequent attention received from EU policies and social regeneration plans could lead to a trail of post-defeat democratization. Growth figures and the latest EU projects, actions on the ground and the development of relations are indicators. In addition, the political discourse in the change between the Karabakh model political tradition and the current in relation to the above research will be investigated.

Despite the trauma caused by the end of Nagorno-Karabakh as an unrecognized independent state with a direct link to Armenia and the consequent mass influx of refugees into Armenia, the end of this climate of geopolitical tension and the subsequent attention received from EU policies and social regeneration plans could result in a wave of post-defeat democratization. Growth data and the latest projects, EU actions on the ground, and the development of relations are indicators. In addition, the political discourse in the transition between the Karabakh model political tradition and the current one in relation to the research above will be investigated.
