What needs to be done to activate a mobility?

Erasmus students must be designated by their home University via email to the address erasmus@unistrapg.it(so-called "nomination")

The nomination must:

  1. be sent by the relevant office of the home University;
  2. contain the following information:
  • student's first and last name
  • student's date and place of birth
  • student's institutional email contact
  • planned mobility period
  • ISCED code
  • indication of the relevant Erasmus action (KA131 or KA171)

After receiving this designation, the Erasmus and International Mobility Office will:

  • verify the eligibility for the mobility program;
  • send the nominated student an email confirmation with all the necessary information for the subsequent application procedure (so-called "application")

To submit your application (the so-called "application") you must send the following via e-mail, in .pdf format, to erasmus@unistrapg.it:

  1. the Erasmus Application Form, which you must fill out, print, sign personally and have it signed and stamped by your University;
  2. a copy of your identity document;
  3. a copy of your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for healthcare. If you do not have an EHIC card, you must take out a health insurance policy with an adequate coverage limit, valid for the entire mobility period, and you must attach a copy of it.

In addition to the above documents, you must:

  1. fill out the online application for regular courses in Italian language and culture, which you can attend for free as an Erasmus student
  2. alternatively, complete one of the following:
    1. if your mobility is within KA131, the OLA (Online Learning Agreement);
    2. if, on the other hand, you cannot access OLA because your University is not yet participating in the EWP actions, or if your mobility is within KA171, then you must use one of the following Learning Agreement templates, which you must complete, print, sign personally and have it signed and stamped by your University:
      1. Learning Agreement KA131
      2. Learning Agreement KA171

Once the aforementioned documentation has been obtained, the staff of the Erasmus and International Mobility Service of the University for Foreigners of Perugia will carry out the necessary checks and, if successful, will issue the letter of acceptance for the mobility.

Students who have successfully completed the application procedure will separately receive at the email address they provided:

  • depending on the case:

    - a notification of OLA approval directly from the Erasmus Dashboard platform

    - in the case of using the KA131 or KA171 Learning Agreement, the countersigned copy of the document

  • the certificate of enrollment in the ordinary Italian language and culture courses
  • the institutional credentials to be used during their mobility period (student ID number, institutional email address, username and password)
  • the invitation to participate in a welcome and registration event (so-called "welcome meeting")

In the case of mobility from non-EU countries, you may need to complete certain procedures to obtain a residence permit in Italy, which you will have to check and carry out if applicable. For information regarding the Visa for studying in Italy, it is recommended to carefully read the guidelines on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Management of the mobility period

Before the start of each university semester, the University’s Erasmus staff organizes an online welcome event (“welcome meeting”), to which you will be invited by email.

Upon your arrival in Perugia:

  1. you must first go to the Erasmus and International Mobility Service (main office at Palazzo Gallenga, first floor) to sign the arrival register. The date you sign the register will be considered the start date of your mobility;
  2. if needed, the Erasmus and International Mobility Service will issue you a certificate confirming the start of your mobility, for the benefit of your home university, also using a form provided by them if necessary;
  3. you will then be asked to take the Italian language test on the date and at the time already communicated to you by email from the Language Courses Secretariat staff. The result will be sent to you immediately by email, together with the schedule of the assigned Italian language and culture course. If these courses are not part of your Learning Agreement, you may choose freely whether to take the test and attend the courses;
  4. you can then start attending the courses listed in your Learning Agreement.

It may happen that during your mobility period, for various reasons, you find it necessary to make changes to your Learning Agreement.

To do this, within and no later than 30 days from the start date of your mobility you must:

  1. immediately get in touch with your mobility tutor about this matter;
  2. subsequently get in touch with the Erasmus coordinator of your home university, obtaining their approval, which can be given:
  • directly on the dedicated platform, if your mobility takes place through OLA;
  • otherwise, by sending the "Learning Agreement During the Mobility" via email, signed by them and by you;
  1. your proposal will then be reviewed by the Erasmus coordinator of the University for Foreigners of Perugia, who can:
  • justifiably reject your proposal, which you can then revise and resubmit if needed;
  • approve your proposal

    In either case, you will receive notification directly from OLA via email, or if your mobility is not through OLA, via an email from the Erasmus and International Mobility Service.

Learning agreement "during the mobility"

The end date of your mobility period must be communicated to the Erasmus and International Mobility Service staff (erasmus@unistrapg.it) at least one week before departure, to allow—where possible—the preparation of the final documentation, which will include:

  • mobility certificate;
  • Transcript of Records.

PLEASE NOTE: The end date of your mobility period must coincide with one of the following:

  • the date of the last registered exam;
  • the date of the last attended class;
  • the date of the last visit to the Erasmus and International Mobility Service

The Erasmus+ Experience of Gabriele

Gabriele enthusiastically shares his positive experience in the Erasmus+ program at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, which he initially chose out of curiosity, having never heard of it before. He highlights the excellent academic quality, emphasizing the competence and availability of professors and coordinators, as well as the variety of courses offered, including the opportunity to learn Italian for free. From a social perspective, he recommends Perugia for its vibrant Erasmus student network (ESN), which organizes daily events, making it easy to meet new friends and explore the local culture. Finally, Gabriele recommends Perugia as a great base for traveling in Italy and, in summary, the only regret he expresses is knowing he will have to leave soon and the fear that future exchange experiences might not live up to the high standards he found in Perugia.
