European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System

The university credit (CFU) is the measure of the volume of learning work, including individual study, required of a student with adequate initial preparation for the acquisition of knowledge and skills in the educational activities established by the curricula of study programs (Ministerial Decree 270/04).

The Italian language and culture courses are structured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) model and divided into elementary, intermediate, and advanced courses, each split into two levels. Each level corresponds to the university credits specified in the table, which can be acquired after the completion of the educational activities and upon achieving the required learning outcomes.

With regard to European University Credits, 1 local credit is equivalent to one ECTS credit: 1 CFU = 1 ECTS.

ECTS credits express the volume of learning, based on already defined learning outcomes and the related workload.

The ECTS system (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) aims to facilitate the processes for academic recognition of educational activities undertaken by students. This system seeks to provide a conversion key for grades between different national assessment systems, both in quantitative terms (by quantifying actual European Credits) and in qualitative terms (using an ECTS grading scale), making it possible to convert them according to rules shared at the European level.
