The Impact of Earthquakes on Climate Change Risk Perception: Lessons from the Inner Mediterranean
Some areas of the Inner Mediterranean are highly seismically active and have recently experienced destructive earthquakes, yet remain under-researched regarding their response to overlapping environmental risks. For this reason, this study focuses on two case studies: Norcia (Italy) and an Amazigh community in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, both affected by major seismic events and facing increasing climate-related hazards. By examining how earthquake experiences influence climate change risk perception, the research aims to inform adaptation and disaster risk reduction strategies, contributing to policies that address interconnected environmental threats in these regions.
