Euro-African Green Diplomacy vs Women Empowerment: Gendered Impacts of Climate Change in East Africa with a specific focus on Rural and Refugee Settlements in Kenya
This research critically examines the role of women in shaping climate adaptation strategies in the Global South, with particular focus on Eastern Africa. It analyses how global climate frameworks, including the European Green Deal, intersect with local realities, and how women negotiate and leverage them to build localised resilience. Drawing on Feminist Political Ecology, the study explores how indigenous knowledge, circular-economy practices, and decentralised technologies can strengthen women's agency in governing Water, Energy, and Food resources in marginalised areas under climate extremes. It positions Kenya as a key actor in the South-South climate cooperation and as a case study for integrating local resilience strategies into sustainability and climate diplomacy.
