A Transdisciplinary Approach
The EU has consistently embraced an ambitious sustainable climate policy, centred on the emissions trading system under Directive 2003/87/EC, and other means, particularly the roadmap outlined in the Green Deal. Other countries, such as the US and China, foresee the achievement of the net zero carbon objective by 2050 or 2060. Convergence is nonetheless still limited and science estimates that the timely achievement of carbon neutrality requires a cut in greenhouse gas emissions of around 8 percent on yearly basis.
This conference is part of the Jean Monnet Project Implementing Climate Policies. It brings together experts from different fields in the academia and practice to explore new regulatory avenues and foster climate policy convergence and effectiveness.
