Live streaming (opening event, January 19th, at 2:00 PM)
From January 19 to 23, 2026, the University for Foreigners of Perugia, in collaboration with ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe) will host the "AI-Forward | Winter School on Artificial Intelligence for Language Learning, Teaching, and Assessment", within the PNRR- TNE project "Innovative Mediterranean Partnership for Advancing Collaborative Teaching” (IMPACT), funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
The Winter School aims to empower language educators, curriculum developers, instructional designers, and assessment specialists with knowledge, tools, and strategies to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language education. The initiative is part of the PNRR actions aimed at strengthening the quality of the university system, promoting digital transformation, and supporting the development of innovative skills in the education sector, with particular attention to the responsible and inclusive use of Artificial Intelligence in the teaching, learning and assessment processes of language skills.
The Winter School, coordinated by Professor Letizia Cinganotto, will be held in person at Palazzo Gallenga and will also be online. The event will bring together national and international teachers, trainers, evaluation experts, and policymakers for five days of keynote lectures, pratical workshops, and case studies. The initiative will address key topics such as language learning, assessment, AI ethics, and inclusion, with contributions from international speakers from ALTE (Nick Saville), UNESCO (Miao Fengchun), the European Commission (Anna Sole Mena; Vito Borrelli), the ECML of the Council of Europe, EALTA, INDIRE, INVALSI, and CINECA, and teachers, researchers, and experts from major Italian academic institutions.
The opening event, scheduled for January 19th, starting at 2:00 PM, will be streamed live on the University's YouTube channel, accessible to everyone: live streaming
Among the guests is Luciano Floridi, director of the Digital Ethics Center and professor in the Cognitive Sciences program at Yale University.
Those who have enrolled in the Winter School will receive a special link to access to the course delivery platform, which will record their attendance for the final certificate.
