The online Italian language courses offered by the University for Foreigners of Perugia feature an innovative curriculum with flexible schedules for autonomous learning.

These courses integrate artificial intelligence (AI) systems, supplemented by periodic synchronous meetings with teachers and tutors, scheduled upon request to meet the specific needs of learners.

Advanced AI systems enhance language practice, simplify access to information, facilitate personalized learning, and provide continuous guidance to students.

The activities are adaptable and customizable to accommodate the needs of both groups and individual learners.


Online Italian language courses packages

The online Italian language courses are offered in diverse packages tailored to user needs:

Basic Training Package

This package, delivered via the Moodle platform, includes videos, materials, self-correcting exercises, forum interactions, and one or two synchronous meetings with teachers or tutors, depending on the learner’s specific needs.

Basic+AI Package

This package includes all the features of the Basic Training Package, along with advanced interactive language study and practice using AI. This component enhances the learning experience by providing a continuously available interactive space that simulates real-world communication scenarios. This innovative approach emphasizes personalization and active learner engagement, fostering significant progress in linguistic, cultural, and pragmatic competencies.


Course Structure and Curriculum

The online courses in Italian language and culture are structured as follows:

A1 (Elementary Level I)

Develops basic language skills for elementary communication and understanding of simple information in familiar, everyday contexts.

A2 (Elementary Level II)

Focuses on linguistic and communicative skills for interacting in routine situations, involving simple exchanges of information on familiar topics. Suitable for students with basic Italian knowledge.

B1 (Intermediate Level I)

Enables students to communicate effectively in everyday situations, targeting learners who wish to consolidate their basic knowledge and progress to an intermediate level.

B2 (Intermediate Level II)

Enhances Italian language proficiency, enabling students to communicate appropriately in formal and informal contexts while discussing current topics. Designed for learners aiming to achieve higher intermediate proficiency.


Courses Delivery and Structure

Courses are delivered through e-learning on the Moodle platform.


Methodology

The adopted teaching methodology includes:

  • Monitoring and Support: qualified tutors available upon request
  • Combined Evaluation System: integration of automatic feedback with personalized analytical assessments
  • Autonomous and Collaborative Learning Modes: use of interactive tools as integral components of the course

Course Duration

Each course lasts three months (12 weeks per level) and includes the following phases:

  1. Initial Phase: Familiarization with the e-learning platform
  2. Intermediate Phase: Individual study of learning units (asynchronous) and interactions between students and tutors
  3. Final Phase: final test

Students are expected to dedicate 5-6 hours per week to the course.


Activities

Asynchronous Activities

These include material production, feedback on assignments, forum moderation, glossary creation, access to reading resources, submissions of written or video-based assignments, quizzes with automatic corrections, wikis, webquests, and video/audio production.

Synchronous Activities

Regular sessions with tutors or instructors can be scheduled on demand, based on specific needs. Synchronous lessons are held in the morning or afternoon, according to agreed schedules. For larger groups, schedules can be diversified to accommodate different time zones.


Entrance Test

Students’ initial proficiency level is assessed through an online written test with automatic feedback.


Final Test and Certification of Attendance

The final test is administered on the Moodle platform with pre-set opening and closing dates and timers. Students who successfully complete the course and pass the final test receive a Certificate of Attendance.
