Contenuto del corso

The course aims to illustrate the most relevant features of international environmental regulation and related protection policies. The goal is to foster a critical and analytical understanding of environmental governance in international law and to identify its key characteristics.

In this context, particular attention will be given to the regulation of the fundamental principles of international environmental law, as well as to the governance of soil and water, the polar regions, air and outer space, biodiversity, hazardous substances, waste, the relationship between economics and environment, environmental protection and human rights, and climate change.

Metodi didattici

For Attending Students

Lectures aim to provide students with the elements and tools necessary to understand and analyse international environmental regulation and related protection policies. Active student participation will be encouraged through the discussion of concrete and current cases, which will be analysed during class sessions, as well as through debates and reflection activities, including individual and group work.

For Non-Attending Students

In addition to making course materials used during lectures available—primarily through the University’s eLearning platform (LOL)—non-attending students will have access to specific opportunities aimed at presenting the course and exploring its key aspects. These may take the form of dedicated seminar sessions or hours specifically reserved for non-attending students.

The digital platforms LOL and Microsoft Teams will be used and may also support distance learning methods, in accordance with the guidelines set out by the Degree Program Boards.

Students who have submitted certification of disability or specific learning disorders (SLD) to the Registrar’s Office are advised to contact the instructor at the beginning of the course—also through the University Committee for Diversity and Inclusion (differenze-inclusione@unistrapg.it)—to arrange any necessary compensatory or exemption measures and adapt teaching accordingly.

Metodi di accertamento

Assessment methods are designed to verify the adequate acquisition of the tools and knowledge necessary to understand and deepen the key features and elements of international environmental regulation and related protection policies. To this end, the final exam will aim to assess the level of knowledge and skills acquired by the student, including through the analysis of concrete cases, which will help to reconstruct the fundamental categories and elements characterising international environmental law.

For students with disability or SLD (Specific Learning Disabilities) certifications, the exam modalities will be agreed upon based on specific needs, in consultation with the Committee for Diversity and Inclusion.
