Access to degree courses of non-EU students residing abroad

In order to obtain registration in a graduate course or degree, non-EU citizens residents abroad must submit an application for pre-registration to the Italian diplomatic representative of their country of residence, from March 24 to June 30. The modality and deadlines are established by the Circular of the Ministry of Education, regarding the "Rules for access to university courses for foreign students" in March 2014 (Prot. 7802).

The diplomatic representations will send by email to the University, the excel sheet with the names of the candidates.

The University welcomes a "conditional" application, and returns to the Representations the Excel sheet with a list of applicants eligible and not eligible for the Italian language testing, in order to issue the visa for the purpose of study.

Documents related to qualifications, including the pre-enrollment application, will be delivered by to the students by the diplomatic representations. All documentation will be delivered directly to the same students at the University, during the completion of the procedures for registration. Only after verification of the possession of all the full requirements for enrolment by the University reservation will be dropped.

Foreign citizens registering or pre-enrolling in a graduate or postgraduate course are to take a test in Italian language, in Perugia c/o University for Foreigners (Palazzo Gallenga) on September 2, 2015, Exemption is subject to regulations as in the circular of the Ministry of Education and Research (MIUR).

Foreign citizens admitted to the course must comply to the norms governing the stay of foreign citizens in Italy.

Admission to an undergraduate program

Candidates holding a degree equivalent to a secondary school diploma, achieved after 12 years of school have access to three-year degree courses.

The diploma must permit access to a University course similar to that wherein the candidate intends to enroll in Italy, also in the country of origin of the candidate.

The candidates who have a High School Diploma obtained after 10 or 11 years of schooling must submit, in addition to the diploma of secondary education, the academic certification. This document in case of 11 years of schooling will state that they have passed all the exams required for the first year at the university in their own country, and, in the case of 10 years of schooling, stating they passed all exams required for the first two years at the university in their own country.

The academic certification allows enrollment in the first academic year and the shortening of the academic career, only in the case where the duration of university attendance is higher than the period allowed to integrate term time missing.

Applicants from countries where there is a special university entrance examination (proof of academic eligibility), must submit, in addition to the diploma of secondary education, the certification for that examination specifying the grade obtained.

The applications for pre-registration of candidates who, at the time of submission of the application, in their last year of schooling have yet to take final leaving exams and also, if applicable under local norms, have to take a special examination for academic eligibility.

Documents are to be handed to the University together with the pre-enrollment application for an undergraduate program

  • final title or leaving certificate of the original secondary school, with indication of the final grade or replacement certificate to all legal purposes; certificate certifying evidence of academic eligibility when requested by national norms
  • certificate attesting the partial academic studies already made if the qualification was achieved at the end of a period of less than 12 years of schooling. In case of request for course abbreviation, the certificate must specify the exams passed and be accompanied by the official documentation and the programs of the examinations
  • diplomas or certificates of proficiency in Italian
  • 2 passport photos in color, one of which authenticated by the Italian diplomatic representation responsible for the area
  • photocopy of an identity document not expired
  • declaration of value*

*The statement of value is a certificate ascertaining and validating the qualification of secondary school and gives title to the owner of the certificate to access university courses in the issuing country. This declaration must be requested at the Italian diplomatic representation in the applicant’s country of jurisdiction.

All documents in a foreign language required for pre-registration must be legalized by the Italian Embassy and translated into Italian.

The translation can be done by local translators and students must apply to the Italian diplomatic representative, responsible for the area, certifying the compliance of the translation to the original.

Foreign students admitted, like Italian students must take an entrance admission exam, not to be confused with the Italian language test. The exam will take place on 2 September 2015. Admission to degree programs

Candidates holding a university degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Italian have access to Foreign students, like the Italian students to be admitted to a master's degree must be in possession of certain curricular requirements in particular scientific areas. The verification of the curricular requirements is mandatory and managed by Secretary Office (segreteria.laurea (at) unistrapg.it).

Foreign students admitted, like the Italian students are to take a test in knowledge skills not to be confused with Italian language testing. This will take place on 2 September 2015. Information on how to participate, date and venue may be obtained from the Ufficio Orientamento of the University (orientatamento (at) unistrapg.it). The admission comes after the evaluation curricular and subsequent verification test of personal preparation of the student.

Applicants not possessing the relevant title, despite having completed their studies, are accepted subject to verification and under reserve.

Documents to be handed to the University together with the application for pre-enrollment to degree courses:

  • degree obtained at a university or post-secondary title achieved in a non-university Higher Institute allowing, in the country in which it was awarded, the further education in the next level (assuming the title of secondary education has been achieved at the end of at least twelve years of schooling)
  • Certificate issued by the competent academic authority, confirmed by the Italian Embassy, including a detailed list of courses followed and passed exams for obtaining the degree which, in case of request for abbreviation of course must be accompanied by official documentation about programs of the same trials
  • diplomas or certificates of proficiency in Italian
  • 2 passport photos in color, one of which authenticated by the Italian diplomatic mission responsible for the area
  • photocopy of an identity document not expired
  • declaration of value*

*The statement of value, which must be requested at the Italian diplomatic mission in their country of jurisdiction, it is a certificate that ascertains and confirms that the university degree, possessed by those who request, give access to university courses in higher level country in which it was obtained.

All documents in a foreign language required for pre-registration must be legalized by the Italian Embassy and translated into Italian.

The translation can be done by local translators. Applicants will then apply to the Italian diplomatic representative, responsible for the area, to legalize the translation.
